<br /> 22 <br /> RESOLUTION 1996 - 1 ?:m <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS, APPROVING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF A LETTER <br /> AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND AMERICAN MUNICIPAL <br /> SERVICES CORPORATION TO EXTEND A MUNICIPAL COURT CITATION <br /> COLLECTION AGREEMENT FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR; <br /> AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT <br /> ~ ON BEHALF OF THE CITY AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> i <br /> , <br /> RECITALS: <br /> 1. In February 1996, the City of San Marcos entered into a contract with <br /> American Municipal Services Corporation (AMSC) to collect old outstanding municipal <br /> court warrants. The agreement allowed the city to evaluate the effectiveness of AMSC's <br /> services. . . <br /> 2. Since the beginning of the contract, the city has collected over $54,000 from <br /> old outstanding warrants. AMSC receives 28% of the fees collected as compensation for <br /> their services. Collection expenses incurred by AMSC are paid out of the 28% fee they <br /> receive. <br /> ~ <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. The attached letter agreement between the City of San Marcos and <br /> American Municipal Services Corporation, to amend the o'riginal contract for municipal <br /> court citation collection services is approved. <br /> PART 2. The City Manager, Larry D. Gilley, is authorized to execute the <br /> agreement on behalf of the City. <br /> PART 3.
