<br />36 <br />ORDINANCE 1995 - 36 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING SECTION 2-31 OF THE SAN <br />MARCOS CODE OF ORDINANCES TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF <br />POSITIONS WITHIN THE CLASSIFICATION OF CORPORAL TO <br />18 AND TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS WITHIN <br />THE CLASSIFICATION OF SERGEANT TO 9¡ PROVIDING FOR <br />SEVERABILITY; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES¡ <br />PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />I-" SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br />i <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Section 2-31 of the Code of <br />Ordinances is amended to increase the number of authorized <br />positions within the classification of Corporal from 16 to 18 <br />and to increase the number of authorized positions within the <br />classification of Sergeant from 8 positions to 9 positions. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That if any word, phrase, clause, <br />sentence, or paragraph of this ordinance is held to be <br />unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent <br />jurisdiction, the remaining provisions of this ordinance <br />shall remain in effect as if the unconstitutional or invalid <br />portion had not been adopted. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. That all ordinances and re&olutions or <br />parts of ordinances or resolutions in conflict herewith are <br />hereby repealed. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. That the importance of this <br />Ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative public <br />necessity so that the provisions of the Charter requiring <br />that ordinances shall be presented at three separate meetings <br />and that no ordinance shall become effective until the <br />expiration of ten (la) days following the date of its final <br />passage be suspended, and these provisions are hereby <br />suspended, and this Ordinance sha¡l take effect and be in <br />full force and effect from and after its adoption and after <br />its publication in a newspaper of general circulation within <br />the City as provided by the City Charter of the City of San <br />Marcos. <br /> <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of <br /> <br /> <br />May , 1995. l~~~ <br /> <br />Mayor <br />Attest: Approved: <br />=1(a(V~cI. %~~ ~- ~ <br /> <br />dánis K.
