Mrs. Norris moved to <br />approve the minutes. Mr. Brown seconded the motion, which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Stokes introduced for consideration approval of the minutes of <br />the special meeting held March 2, 1981. Mr. James moved to approve <br />the minutes. Mrs. Norris seconded the motion. On roll call, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Brown, Cavazos, James, Stokes, Norris <br /> <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: Tarbutton <br /> <br />Mr. Stokes introduced for consideration action concerning election <br />of the Mayor. The City Secretary reported that she had talked with <br />the Secretary of State's office and that a petition could be made <br />to the governor requesting permission to hold an election prior to <br />August 8th, but that it was unlikely that the request would be granted. <br />Mr. James moved to accept the resignation of the Mayor and to declare <br />a vacancy. Mr. Tarbutton seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Stokes directed staff to present an Ordinance at the proper time <br />calling for a special election to be held in August. <br /> <br />Mr. Stokes introduced for consideration election of a Mayor Pro-Tem. <br />Mrs. Norris moved to designate Mr. Cavazos as the representative of the <br />Council in Mr. Stokes' absence. Mr. Stokes seconded the motion. On <br />roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Brown, James, Stokes, Norris, Tarbutton <br /> <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: Cavazos <br /> <br />Mr. Stokes introduced for consideration a Resolution authorizing <br />payment to Jim Winn Iron Works, the caption of which was read as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />
