<br />ORDINANCE NO. 2007- 53 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE ORDINANCE <br />ADOPTED ON AUGUST 6, 2007, ORDERING A GENERAL AND <br />SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 6,2007, BY <br />INCREASING THE HOURS AND PLACES WHERE EARLY <br />VOTING WILL BE AVAILABLE, AND AMENDING SECTION 3 <br />TO CORRECT A TYPOGRAPHICAL ERROR AND COMPLY <br />WITH THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE; AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Section 3 of the Ordinance adopted by the City Council on August 6,2007, <br />ordering a general and special election to be held by the City on November 6, 2007, is amended to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION 3. The ballots for the City election will conform to the requirements ofthe Texas <br />Election Code, and will have the measures described in Section 2 of this Ordinance stated as <br />propositions as follows: <br /> <br />PROPOSITION NO.1 <br /> <br />Authorizing the City of San Marcos to establish, develop and construct the San Marcos Conference <br />Center Project as a venue project, and to impose a hotel tax at the rate of two percent (2)% , for a <br />maximum city hotel tax of nine percent (9%), for the purpose of financing the venue project. <br /> <br />FOR/AGAINST <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Section 9 of the Ordinance adopted by the City Council on August 6,2007, <br />ordering a general and special election to be held by the City on November 6, 2007, is amended to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION 9. The main early polling place for early voting by personal appearance for the <br />election is the Hays County Election Administrator's Office, 401-C Broadway. Early voting by <br />personal appearance shall be conducted during normal working days Monday- Friday (excluding <br />holidays) in the Hays County Election Administrator's Office from October 22, 2007 through <br />October 312007 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on November 1, 2007 through November 2, 2007 from <br />7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on October 27, 2007 (Saturday) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In <br />addition, temporary branch and mobile early polling places for early voting by personal appearance for <br />the City election are established at the following locations, with voting to be conducted at the dates <br />and times indicated: <br /> <br />-1- <br />
