<br />70 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 1986-18 <br /> <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING THAT ORDINANCE <br />ADOPTED ON FEBRUARY 3, 1986 WHICH AMENDED THAT <br />ORDINANCE ADOPTED ON JANUARY 27, 1986 WHICH <br />ORDERED A SPECIAL AND JOINT GENERAL ELECTION <br />BY SAID CITY AND THE SAN MARCOS CONSOLIDATED <br />INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT TO BE HELD ON <br />APRIL 5, 1986 AND WHICH ADOPTED CERTAIN OTHER <br />PROVISIONS RELATING THERETO, TO AMEND CHARTER <br />PROPOSITION NO. 11 IN SECTION 2 THEREOF TO <br />PROVIDE THAT RUNOFF ELECTIONS BE HELD THREE <br />(3) WEEKS FOLLOWING THE PRECEDING ELECTION <br />INSTEAD OF FOUR (4) WEEKS FOLLOWING THE SAME; <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Charter Proposition No. 11 in Section 2 of that <br />ordinance adopted by said City on February 3, 1986 which amended that <br />Ordinance adopted on January 27, 1986 which ordered a special and joint <br />general election by said City and the San Marcos Consolidated <br />Independent School District to be held on April 5, 1986 and which <br />adopted certain other provisions relating thereto, is hereby amended to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That the following propositions to amend the <br />Charter of the City of San Marcos, Texas shall be <br />submitted to the resident qualified voters of said City <br />on said date for their action thereon: <br /> <br /> <br />. . . <br /> <br /> <br />Proposition No. 11 <br /> <br />FOR/AGAINST Amend Section 5.05 to provide that runoff <br />elections be held three (3) weeks <br />following the preceding election. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That the importance of this Ordinance creates an <br />emergency and an imperative public necessity so that the provisions of <br />the Charter requiring that ordinances shall be presented at three <br />separate meetings and that no ordinance shall become effective until <br />the expiration of ten (10) days following the date of its final passage <br />be suspended, and these provisions are hereby suspended, and this <br />Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and <br />after its adoption and after its publication in a newspaper of general <br />circulation in the area. <br /> <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 10th day of March, 1986. <br /> <br />~ø. <br /> <br />Emmie cradd~ <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />A~ ;;Jr~ <br /> <br />Janis K.
