<br />106 <br />ORDINANCE 1985-11 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />-- AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />~ $ CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING <br />~ t:.~ SECTION 29-11l OF ARTICLE V OF CHAPTER 29 <br />~W OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY TO <br />PROVIDE THAT THE CHIEF OF POLICE, THE <br />DIRECTOR OF ENVIRONMENT AND ENGINEERING, <br />AND THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS, OR <br />THEIR DESIGNEES ARE JOINTLY AUTHORIZED TO <br />DESIGNATE CROSSWALKS, ESTABLISH SAFETY <br />ZONES, MARK TRAFFIC LANES AND PROVIDE <br />BARRIERS ON STREETS IN SAID CITY, AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Section 29-111 of Article Vof <br />Chapter 29 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of San <br />Marcos, Texas is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 29-111. Designation of crosswalks and safety <br />zones and marking traffic lanes. <br /> <br />The Chief of Police, the Director of Environment and <br />Engineering and the Director of Public Works, or their <br />designees, are hereby jointly authorized: <br /> <br />1. To designate and maintain, by appropriate devices, <br />marks or lines upon the surface of the roadway, <br />crosswalks at intersections where, in the <br />officials' opinions, there is particular danger to <br />pedestrian$ cross1ng the roadway, and at such <br />other places as the officials may deem necessary. <br /> <br />2. To establish safety zones of such kind and <br />character and at such places as the officials may <br />deem necessary for the protection of pedestrians. <br /> <br />3. To mark lanes and provide barriers for traffic on <br />streets at such places as the officials may deem <br />advisable, consistent with this chapter and other <br />traffic ordinances of this city. <br /> <br />SECTION 2.
