<br /> 13 <br /> ORDINANCE 1984-3 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 29~141 <br /> OF ARTICLE VII ENTITLED "STOPPING, STANDING <br /> AND PARKING" OF CHAPTER 29 ENTITLED "TRAFFIC" <br /> OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS TO ADD A SECTION TO BE NUMBERED <br /> 29-141 (a) (15) PROHIBITING PERSONS WHO ARE NOT <br /> DISABLED FROM STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING <br /> VEHICLES AT A PARKING SPACE OR PARKING AREA <br /> DESIGNATED BY SIGN POSTED FOR USE BY THE <br /> TEMPORARILY OR PElli~ANENTLY DISABLED; AMENDING <br /> " <br /> SECTION 29-1 OF ARTICLE I ENTITLED "IN GENERAL <br /> OF SAID CHAPTER 29 OF SAID CODE TO ADD A DEFINI- <br /> TION OF THE WORD "DISABLED" AND DECLARING AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Article 6675a-5e.l, V.A.C.S., the <br /> Chief of Police for the City of San Marcos, Texas, has designated <br /> or will designate by proper signage on property owned or controlled <br /> by said City and private property owners have designated or will <br /> designate by proper signage on property owned or controlled by <br /> said private property owners parking spaces for the exclusive <br /> use of vehicles transporting temporarily or permanently disabled <br /> persons; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS. <br /> SECTION 1. That Section 29-1 of Article I of Chapter 29 <br /> of the Code of Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, Texas be <br /> amended to read as follows: <br /> Sec. 29-1. Definitions. <br /> The following words and phrases when used in <br /> this chapter shall for the purpose of this <br /> chapter have the following meanings respectively <br /> ascribed to them in this section. <br /> Alley. A public way in the city extending <br /> either partly or through any city block in the <br /> rear of city lots and in a direction generally <br /> from avenue to avenue, not more than twenty (20) <br /> feet in width and capable of being traversed by <br /> a vehicle. <br /> Authorized emergency vehicles. Vehicles of the <br /> fire department (fire patrol), police vehicles, <br /> public and private ambulances for which permits <br /> have been issued by the state board of health, <br /> emergency vehicles of municipal departments or <br /> public service corporations as are designated or <br /> authorized by the city council, and private <br /> vehicles operated by volunteer firemen while <br /> answering a fire alarm. <br /> Bicycle. Every device propelled by human power <br /> upon which any person may ride, having two (2) <br /> tandem wheels either of which is over twenty <br /> (20) inches in diameter, and including any <br /> device generally recognized as a bicycle though <br /> equipped with two ( 2) front or two (2) rear <br /> wheels. <br /> Bus. A commercial vehicle carrying passengers <br /> for hire and operating over and along a fixed <br /> route. <br />
