<br /> 35 <br /> RESOLUTION 1984-4R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS REQUESTING THE TEXAS <br /> rpURNPIKE AUTHORITY TO FUND A PRELIMINARY <br /> FEASIBILITY REPORT FOR A REVENUE-BASED TOLL <br /> ROAD FACILITY BETWEEN AUSTIN AND SAN ANTONIO; <br /> DIRECTING THAT COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION BE <br /> FORWARDED TO THE TEXAS TURNPIKE AUTHORITY AND <br /> DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the area of Texas stretching from the Austin <br /> metropolitan area to the San Antonio metropolitan area has <br /> undergone tremendous growth in recent years; and, <br /> WHEREAS. this area is forecast to continue to grow both <br /> by natural increases and immigration; and, <br /> WHEREAS, it is necessary to address the transportation <br /> infrastructure to ensure that the region will be able to <br /> accommodate current demands and future growth; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Interstate Highway 35 is the only direct <br /> highway link now between Austin and San Antonio; and, <br /> WHEREAS, it is important that alternative routes be <br /> studied so that the transportation system supports the growth <br /> which will occur; and, <br /> WHEREAS, district officials of the Texas Department of <br /> Highways and Public Transportation predict that Interstate <br /> Highway 35 will be operating beyond designed capacity limits <br /> in the near future; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> SECTION 1. That the City of San Marcos, Texas requests <br /> the Texas Turnpike Authority to fund a preliminary <br /> feasibility report for a revenue-based toll road facility <br /> between Austin and San Antonio. <br /> SECTION 2. That copies of this Resolutionæ forwarded <br /> to the Texas Turnpike Authority. <br /> SECTION 3.
