35 RESOLUTION 1984-4R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS REQUESTING THE TEXAS rpURNPIKE AUTHORITY TO FUND A PRELIMINARY FEASIBILITY REPORT FOR A REVENUE-BASED TOLL ROAD FACILITY BETWEEN AUSTIN AND SAN ANTONIO; DIRECTING THAT COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION BE FORWARDED TO THE TEXAS TURNPIKE AUTHORITY AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the area of Texas stretching from the Austin metropolitan area to the San Antonio metropolitan area has undergone tremendous growth in recent years; and, WHEREAS. this area is forecast to continue to grow both by natural increases and immigration; and, WHEREAS, it is necessary to address the transportation infrastructure to ensure that the region will be able to accommodate current demands and future growth; and, WHEREAS, Interstate Highway 35 is the only direct highway link now between Austin and San Antonio; and, WHEREAS, it is important that alternative routes be studied so that the transportation system supports the growth which will occur; and, WHEREAS, district officials of the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation predict that Interstate Highway 35 will be operating beyond designed capacity limits in the near future; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City of San Marcos, Texas requests the Texas Turnpike Authority to fund a preliminary feasibility report for a revenue-based toll road facility between Austin and San Antonio. SECTION 2. That copies of this Resolutionæ forwarded to the Texas Turnpike Authority. SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately from and after its passage.
