<br />56 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 1984-15 <br />~ <br />~ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />-- CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS ESTABLISHING THE <br />RATE OF COMPENSATION TO BE PAID JUDGES AND <br />CLERKS FOR SERVICES RENDERED DURING THE <br />SPECIAL AND JOINT GENERAL ELECTION TO BE <br />HELD ON APRIL 7, 1984 AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br /> <br /> <br />, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, <br />Texas ordered on January 30, 1984 that a special and joint <br />general election by said City and the San Marcos Consoli- <br />dated Independent School District be held on April 7, 1984 <br />for the purpose of electing a Mayor; a City Council Member, <br />Place Three; a City Council Member, Place Four; a School <br />District Board of Trustees Member, Place Five; a School <br />District Board of Trustees Member, Place Six; a School Dis- <br />trict Board of Trustees Member, Place Seven; and for the <br />purpose of submitting amendments to the Charter of said <br />City; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Art. 3.08, V.A.C.S., Election <br />Code, said City Council desires to establish the rate of <br />compensation to be paid the judges and clerks for services <br />rendered during said election; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That the rate of compensation to be paid <br />judges and clerks for services rendered during the special <br />and joint general election by said City and the San Marcos <br />Consolidated Independent School District to be held on April 7, <br />1984 be, and the same is hereby, established at Five Dollars <br />($5.00) per hour. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That the additional compensation to be paid judges who <br />deliver returns of said election is hereby established at <br />Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00). <br /> <br />SECTION 3. That the importance of this Ordinance creates <br />an emergency and an imperative purpose necessary that the pro- <br />visions of the Charter requiring that ordinances shall be read <br />at three separate meetings and that no ordinance shall become <br />effective until the expiration of ten (10) days following the <br />date of its final passage be suspended, and these provisions <br />are hereby suspended, and this Ordinance shall take effect and <br />be ln full force and effect from and after its adoption and <br />publication in a newspaper of general circulation within the <br />City. <br /> <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 13 day of February, <br />1984. <br /> <br />{ò~- <br /> <br />Emmie Craddock -- ---- <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />s K.
