l29 ORDINANCE NO. 1983-8 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR AND CALL- ING FOR THE FILLING OF A VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE FOUR, AT THE REGULAR CITY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON APRIL 2, 1983 AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Elida Mendez, Council Member, Place Four, has re- signed that office, effective February 8, 1983; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to the requirements of Section 3.06 of the San Marcos City Charter, said vacancy must be filled at the regular city election of April 2, 1983; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the vacancy which exists in the office of Council Member, Place Four, on the San Marcos City Council shall be filled at the April 2, 1983, regular city election. SECTION 2. That all provisions for said April 2, 1983, regular city election as set by Ordinance of the San Marcos City Council on this date shall be applicable to the filling of said position. SECTION 3. That the importance of this Ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative purpose necessary that the provisions of the charter requiring that ordinances shall be read at three separate meetings and that no ordinance shall become effective until the expiration of ten (10) days following the date of its final passage be suspended, and these provisions are hereby sus- pended, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and publication in a news- paper of general circulation within the City.
