l33 RESOLTUION NO. 1983-4R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ORGANIZING AND APPROVING A SESQUICENTENNIAL COORDINATING COMMITTEE IN SAID CITY AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHE REAS, the State of Texas will celebrate in 1986 its 150th year of Independence; and, WHE REAS, the City of San Marcos, Te xas, wishes to comply with the Texas Sesquicentennial Commission's rules for recog- nition as a Texas Independence Community; and, WHEREAS, the first step in planning said City's partici- pation is the organization of a committee in said City, said commi ttee to be titled the "Sesquicentennial Coordinating Commi ttee of San Marcos"; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, supports the objectives of the Committee which will encourage participation by civic, cultural, patriotic and historical groups, educational organizations, communica- tions media, business, trade and professional associations, as a Master Plan is developed; now, there fore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: BART 1. That a Sesquicentennial Coordinating Commi ttee of San Marcos is hereby recognized and authorized to take those steps necessary to secure the designation of San Marcos, Texas, as a Texas Independence Community pursuant to the require- men ts 0 f the Texas Sesquicentennial Commission. PART 2. That the following persons are hereby recognized as members of the Sesquicentennial Coordinating Committee of San Marcos, Texas: 1. Mrs. Lunelle Anderson 105 w.
