<br /> l33 <br /> RESOLTUION NO. 1983-4R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ORGANIZING AND <br /> APPROVING A SESQUICENTENNIAL COORDINATING <br /> COMMITTEE IN SAID CITY AND DECLARING AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE <br /> WHE REAS, the State of Texas will celebrate in 1986 its <br /> 150th year of Independence; and, <br /> WHE REAS, the City of San Marcos, Te xas, wishes to comply <br /> with the Texas Sesquicentennial Commission's rules for recog- <br /> nition as a Texas Independence Community; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the first step in planning said City's partici- <br /> pation is the organization of a committee in said City, said <br /> commi ttee to be titled the "Sesquicentennial Coordinating <br /> Commi ttee of San Marcos"; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, <br /> Texas, supports the objectives of the Committee which will <br /> encourage participation by civic, cultural, patriotic and <br /> historical groups, educational organizations, communica- <br /> tions media, business, trade and professional associations, <br /> as a Master Plan is developed; now, there fore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> BART 1. That a Sesquicentennial Coordinating Commi ttee <br /> of San Marcos is hereby recognized and authorized to take those <br /> steps necessary to secure the designation of San Marcos, Texas, <br /> as a Texas Independence Community pursuant to the require- <br /> men ts 0 f the Texas Sesquicentennial Commission. <br /> PART 2. That the following persons are hereby recognized <br /> as members of the Sesquicentennial Coordinating Committee of <br /> San Marcos, Texas: <br /> 1. Mrs. Lunelle Anderson <br /> 105 w.
