Hankins <br /> Director of Personnel Carolyn Liner <br />Also Present: Jim Gandy, Randall Morris, Patti Wenk, Richard <br />Dotson, Nina Pryatel, Ron Cauble, Mary Cauble, Jane Wilson, Ivar <br />Gunnarson, John Diaz, Jane Hughson, Clarence Miller, Francis <br />Horne,- Jake Sullivan, Patty Sullivan, Terry Jester, Susan Ripps, <br />Kathryn Ripps, Jenny Kile, Melissa Millecam, Janace Wade, Lolly <br />Guerra, Andrea Guerra and others. <br />Mayor Morris called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />Mayor Morris introduced canvassing of the returns of the General <br />Election held May 6, 1989. The Council canvassed the returns. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration adoption of an <br />Ordinance on emergency, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS, CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF THE <br /> GENERAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 6, 1989 FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br /> ELECTING A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE ONE, AND A CITY <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE TWO, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />Mr. Hernandez moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency <br />and Ms. Kissler seconded the motion. The City Secretary read the <br />results of the tabulation by precinct into the record, as <br />attached to the Ordinance. Mayor Morris moved to approve the <br />tabulation and to complete Section 3.A. with the name of "Ron <br />Hart" as Council Member, Place One, and Section 3.B. with the <br />name of "Fred Guerra" as Council Member, Place Two. Mr. Moore <br />seconded the amendment, which passed unanimously. The Council <br />then voted unanimously for adoption of the Ordinance on <br />emergency. <br />Mayor Morris issued the Certificates of Election to Ron Hart who <br />received 837 votes as Council Member, Place One, and to Fred <br />Guerra who received 1015 votes as Council Member, Place Two. The <br />Oaths of Office were administered by the City Secretary. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration the election of the <br />Mayor Pro-Tempore. Mr. Guerra moved to appoint Rick Hernandez as <br />Mayor Pro-Tempore and Ms. Kissler seconded the motion. On roll <br />call the following vote was recorded: <br /> AYE: Moore, Hart, Morris, Guerra, Kissler, Plummer. <br /> NAY: None. <br />ABSTAIN: Hernandez. <br />The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Guerra <br />and seconded by Mr. Moore. <br />
