RESOLUTION 2015 -01R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT <br />APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF <br />HOMELAND SECURITY, FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br />AGENCY (THE "U.S. DHS - FEMA ") FOR AN FY 2014 ASSISTANCE TO <br />FIREFIGHTERS GRANT ( "AFG ") IN THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF <br />$326,000.00 FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF BASE <br />STATIONS, MOBILES AND PORTABLE RADIOS TO ENSURE THAT <br />THE CITY WILL MEET THE PROJECT 25 COMPLIANT LAND <br />MOBILE RADIO EQUIPMENT STANDARDS FOR MISSION CRITICAL <br />COMMUNICATIONS THROUGHOUT THE REGIONAL SERVICE <br />AREA; APPROVING THE CITY'S EXPENDITURE OF LOCAL <br />MATCHING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $32,660.00; AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON THE CITY'S BEHALF WITH <br />REGARD TO THE SUBMISSION OF THIS APPLICATION AND ALL <br />RELATED DOCUMENTS INCLUDING CONTRACTS WITH THE U.S. <br />DHS -FEMA AND OTHER PARTIES AS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT <br />THE GRANT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />RECITALS: <br />1. The City's Fire Department wishes to purchase and install 20 base stations, 73 <br />mobiles and 209 portable radios (the "Equipment ") to ensure that the City will meet the Project <br />25 (P25) compliant Land Mobile Radio (LMR) equipment standards for mission critical <br />communications throughout the regional service area. <br />2. The City is requesting financial assistance from the U.S. DHS -FEMA for the <br />purchase and installation of this Equipment. <br />3. The total cost for the purchase and installation of the Equipment is estimated to be <br />$326,000.00, and the City will be responsible for 10% of the total Project costs currently <br />estimated to be $32,660.00. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The submission of a grant application to the U.S. DHS -FEMA for an FY <br />2014 Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the estimated amount of $326,000.00 is authorized. <br />PART 2. The City's expenditure of approximately 10% of the total Project costs <br />which is currently estimated to be $32,660.00 is approved. <br />
