Hankins <br />Gilley <br />Galchutt <br /> <br />Also Present: Mark Hendricks, Jane Wilson, James Wilson, Merry FitzPatrick, <br />Mary Cauble, Dan Smith, Jana Green, Nina Pryatel, Anna Farr, Jack Lind- <br />strom, Karen Brown and others. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced the canvassing of the returns of the Special <br />Runoff Election held April 25, 1987. The Council canvassed the returns <br />of the Central Counting Station. The Council read into the record the <br />tabulation of each voting precinct and the totals. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration adoption of an Ordinance on <br />emergency, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS <br />OF THE SPECIAL RUNOFF ELECTION HELD ON APRIL 25, 1987 <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, <br />PLACE THREE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />Mr. Brown moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency and Mr. Farr <br />seconded the motion. Mr. Guerra moved to amend the Ordinance in the <br />fifth paragraph beginning with "WHEREAS" to add the names of the Council <br />Members present: "Karl Brown, Gerald G. Farr, J. E. Younger, Fred Guerra, <br />Betty Jane Kissler and William C. NicolaI! and to amend SECTION 3 to re- <br />flect the elected Council Member, Place Three to be "Rick Hernandez" <br />and Ms. Kissler seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The <br />Council then voted unanimously for adoption of the Ordinance. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger read the Certificate of Election into the record certifying <br />Rick Hernandez was duly and legally elected and received 1,245 votes. <br />The City Secretary administered the Oath of Office to Mr. Hernandez. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration election of a Mayor Pro-Tempore. <br />Mr. Nicola moved to elect Gerald G. Farr as Mayor Pro-Tempore and Ms. <br />Kissler seconded the motion. On roll call the following vote was re- <br />corded: <br /> <br />AYE: Brown, <br />NAY: None. <br />ABSTAIN: Farr. <br /> <br />Guerra, Younger, Hernandez, Kissler, Nicola. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 5:43 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Farr and se- <br />conded by Mr. Brown. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Mr. Coddington was not present at this meeting. <br />
