t <br />• <br />• <br />ORDINANCE 2009-19 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTIONS OF THE <br />ANIMAL CONTROL ORDINANCE BY DELETING THE <br />REQUIREMENT FOR MICROCHIPPING OF HOUSEHOLD <br />PETS, DELETING THE PROHIBITION AGAINST THE SALE <br />OR ADOPTION OF ANIMALS IN PARKING LOTS AND <br />ALLOWING THE KEEPING OF HENS IN RESIDENTIAL <br />AREAS, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />RECITALS: <br />1. On December 16, 2008, the San Marcos City Council passed Ordinance Number 2008-62, <br />amending the City's Animal Control Ordinances. The effective date for that Ordinance is April <br />1, 2009. <br />2. Certain sections of Ordinance 2008-62 are being amended to remove the requirement for <br />microchipping, to remove the ban on selling animals in parking lots and to allow keeping hens in <br />residential areas. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />SECTION 1.
