RESOLUTION 2016-21R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF AN <br /> APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF <br /> HOMELAND SECURITY, FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br /> AGENCY ("FEMA") FOR AN ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS <br /> GRANT IN THE AMOUNT $744,049.00 FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO- <br /> WAY VEHICLE MOUNTED MOBILE AND PORTABLE RADIO <br /> EQUIPMENT FOR THE CITY'S FIRE DEPARTMENT AND FIVE <br /> OTHER PARTICIPATING FIRE DEPARTMENTS IN HAYS COUNTY; <br /> APPROVING THE CITY'S PROPORTIONATE CONTRIBUTION <br /> TOWARD THE REQUIRED 10 PERCENT OF MATCHING FUNDS; <br /> AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO ACT ON <br /> THE CITY'S BEHALF WITH REGARD TO THE SUBMISSION OF THIS <br /> APPLICATION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS <br /> DESIGNEE TO ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF AWARDED, AND TO <br /> EXECUTE ALL CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS WITH FEMA AND <br /> OTHER PARTICIPATING ENTITIES AS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT <br /> THE GRANT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> RECITALS: <br /> 1. Grant funding is available from the United States Department of Homeland <br /> Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA") through the Assistance to <br /> Firefighters Grant Program to provide financial assistance for uses related to firefighter life and <br /> safety needs. <br /> 2. The City seeks, on its behalf and on behalf of five participating fire departments in <br /> Hays County, to request grant funding from FEMA for the purchase of two-way vehicle-mounted <br /> mobile and portable radio equipment. <br /> RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to submit an application to <br /> FEMA for funding through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program for the purchase of two- <br /> way vehicle-mounted mobile and portable radio equipment in the amount of$744,049.00 to be <br /> shared among the San Marcos Fire Department, the City of Kyle Fire Department, South Hays <br /> Fire and Rescue, the Wimberley Volunteer Fire Department, North Hays County Fire and Rescue <br /> and Chisolm Trail Fire and Rescue. <br /> PART 2. The City's expenditure of its proportionate share of the required 10 percent <br /> in matching funds is approved. <br /> 1 <br />
