Moore Mayor Pro-Tern Rick Hernandez Alternate Mayor Pro-Tern Fred Guerra' Council Members Ed Mihalkanin Jane Hughson Ronald K. Hart Joe B. Cox¡ Jr. City ManageL Larry Gilley Assistant City Manager Laura Huffman City Secretary Janis K. Womack City Attorney Mark Taylor Also Present: Melissa Millecam¡ Scott Maier¡ Macel Sullivant Linda Rodriguez¡ Margaret Hernandez¡ David Hernandez, Collette Duran, Tony Williams and others. Mayor Pro-Tern Rick Hernandez called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. . The Council canvassed the returns of the General and Special Election held May 3¡ 1997. Mr. Hernandez introduced for consideration adoption of an Ordinance on emergency¡ the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS¡ CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF THE GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 3, 1997 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE 5, AND A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE 6; AND A PROPOSITION REGARDING AN INITIATIVE ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO THE THERAPEUTIC USE OF MARIJUANA FOR SERIOUS MEDICAL DISORDERS; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mr. Cox moved for adoption of the Ordinance and for inclusion of the attached tabulation results and Ms. Hughson seconded the motion. Mr. Guerra moved to amend the Ordinance in Section 3.A. to show "Ed Mihalkanin" duly elected as City Council Member, Place 5, in Section 3.B. to show "Rick Hernandez" duly elected as City Council Member place 6 ¡ and the votes cast for Proposition No. One as follows, For "785" and Against, "1¡708"¡ and Ms. Hughson seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Council then voted unanimously for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency. Mr. Hernandez introduced for consideration the election of an Alternate Mayor Pro-Tempore for this meeting. Mr. Cox moved Fred Guerra serve in the capacity of Alternate Mayor Pro-Tempore for this meeting and Ms. Hughson seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mr. Hernandez issued a Certificate of Election to Ed Mihalkanin, Council Member¡ Place 5, and Mr. Guerra issued a Certificate of Election to Rick Hernandez¡ Council Member¡ Place 6, and the Oaths of Office were administered.
