Bryan tilcClung, Kyle Hahn, and others. <br />tilayor;tifoore called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br />Mayor Moore introduced the ten-minute citizen comment period. Susan Narvaiz stated there <br />would be a rally held on behalf of the downtown merchants, Saturday, July 19, 1997, to bring <br />those entities that have a vested interest in the future of our city together to voice positive ideas <br />to produce results that will economically stimulate the center of our City. <br />iVlayor Moore introduced for consideration approval of one appointmenr to the Citizen Review <br />Commission. NIr. Guerra moved to appoint Doris Collin, which passed unanimously. <br />Mayor _%NIoore introduced for consideration approval of one appointment to the Convention and <br />Visitors Bureau to fill a vacancy. ',vIr.'vIihalkan*n moved to appoint Lisa Land, which passed <br />unanimously. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration approval of two appointments to the Charter Review <br />Commission. Mr. Hernandez moved to appoint ;tilike Narvaiz and Mr. Hart moved to appoint <br />Howard Yeargan, which passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration approval of one appointment to the Main Street <br />Advisory Board to fill a vacancy. Ivfr. tilihalkanin moved to appoint Faith Carpenter, which <br />passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Nfoore introduced receiving of the City ;Manager's proposed 1997-1998 Budget and set <br />formal public hearing date for Monday, August 11, 1997. tifr. Gilley stated the proposed 1997- <br />1998 budget is 563,594,000 which is a 16.6% increase from last year. He stated some of the <br />increase is due to the full funding of the Activity Center, utility rate increases, 9% wastewater <br />increase, 30% increase in the water system and a reduction in property tax. He stated this year's <br />tax rate is S.135. 'vlr. Gilley stated the bud-et workshops were scheduled to begin next week.
