Rodney Cobv <br /> <br />Also Present: Joe Castillo, Melissa Millecam, Collette Duran, Mario <br />Gutierrez, Cheryl Pantermuehl, Ollie Giles, Kelly Franks, Johnny <br />Finch, George VonderLippe, John Holtermann,Scott Maier, and others. <br /> <br />Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Moore introduced the ten-minute Citizen comment period. Mike <br />, Dishman spoke in favor of extended hours of sales of mixed <br />; beverages. He requested the Council consider extending the trial <br />. period to one year. Joe Gonzales stated he is a resident on East <br />Guadalupe Street and is against extended hours because he thinks <br />there will be problems associated with this, including additional <br />traffic concerns. He stated if the owners of the bars want extended <br />hours, they should move where that is permitted. James Bates stated <br />he represents a lawn maintenance company in Wimberley and wanted to <br />bid on the recent bid for the cemetery maintenance. He stated they <br />had not been advised the City was going out for bids and wanted to <br />know why they were not considered. Ollie Giles stated shè was <br />against extended bar hours, and said there was no need for this. <br />Ms. Giles declared war against extended bar hours. She asked the <br />Council to think about the neighborhoods when considering this <br />matter and to vote it down and bury it. David Dishman of the Draft <br />Choice and Tap Room stated he is strongly in favor of extended <br />hours. He stated the responsible drinking age is established by <br />government and religious groups should not deny this. He also <br />stated he is in favor of a foot patrol downtown. C. C. Laidley <br />stated he has land in the area being considered for annexation. <br />Some of this land is in the floodplain, and he does not want his <br />land annexed and feels he will gain no benefits from annexation. <br />George VonderLippe stated he is opposed to extended bar hours. He <br />stated the Council has received detailed information from the Police <br />Department and Coma 1 County has tried extended hours and have now <br />I rejected the extended hours because of the problems it caused. <br />Kenneth Manning, former owner of Draft Choice, speaking as a <br />I citizen, stated he is in favor of extended hours and asked the <br />Council to think about this matter logically, that it is not an <br />issue of drinking, but rather an issue of hours of business. David <br />Hanzel stated he did not wish to speak at this time. <br /> <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration approval of two <br />appointments to complete a vacancy on the Senior Citizens Facilities <br />Advisory Board. Ms. Hughson and Mr. Guerra asked this to be <br />scheduled for the next Council Meeting. <br /> <br />* Mr. Hernandez left the meeting at 9:15 p.m. <br />
