RESOLUTION NO.2017-OIR <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF AN <br />APPLICATION TO THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL <br />JUSTICE DIVISION, FOR A GRANT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED <br />$175,000 TO FUND UPGRADES TO THE SAN MARCOS POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT'S RECORDS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR THE <br />POLICE NATIONAL INCIDENT BASED REPORTING SYSTEM (NIBRS) <br />IN ORDER TO BRING THE DEPARTMENT INTO COMPLIANCE WITH <br />A STATE MANDATE BEFORE THE DEADLINE OF SEPTEMBER 1, 2019; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO <br />EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS AS NECESSARY TO ACCEPT <br />AND IMPLEMENT THE GRANT, IF AWARDED; AND DECLARING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />RECITALS: <br />1. It is in the best interest of the citizens of San Marcos, Texas that the NIBRS <br />Implementation Project be operated beginning in the year 2017. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS. <br />PART 1. The submission of the grant application for the NIBRS Implementation <br />Project to the Officer of the Governor of Texas, therefore, is hereby approved. <br />PART 2. The City of San Marcos agrees that, in the event of loss or misuse of the <br />Office of the Governor funds, the City of San Marcos assures that the funds will be returned to the <br />Office of the Governor in full. <br />PART 3. The City Manager is hereby designated as the City's authorized official with <br />regard to all matters related to the grant and is given the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or <br />terminate the grant on behalf of the City of San Marcos, Texas. <br />PART 4. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately from and after <br />its passage. <br />ADOPTED on January 3, 2017. <br />John Thomaides <br />Mayor <br />
