RESOLUTION NO. 2018-25R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS, ADOPTING THE 2018 HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS <br /> HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN AS THE OFFICIAL PLAN OF THE <br /> CITY; AUTHORIZING THE INCLUSION OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN AS AN APPENDIX; <br /> DESIGNATING THE CITY MANAGER AS THE OFFICIAL <br /> AUTHORIZED TO COORDINATE WITH OTHER GOVERNMENT <br /> OFFICES AND PREPARE AND SUBMIT REPORTS TO THE TEXAS <br /> DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT; AND DECLARING AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> RECITALS: <br /> 1. The City of San Marcos, Texas ("City") has experienced natural hazards that <br /> result in public safety hazards and damage to private and public property. <br /> 2. The hazard mitigation planning process set forth by the State of Texas and the <br /> Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA") offers the opportunity to consider natural <br /> hazards and risks, and to identify mitigation actions to reduce future risk. <br /> 3. The Texas Division of Emergency Management provided federal mitigation funds <br /> to support the update to the mitigation plan. <br /> 4. The City has developed a Hazard Mitigation Plan which will be added as an <br /> Appendix to the 2018 Hays County, Texas Hazard Mitigation Plan. <br /> 5. The Mitigation Planning Committee developed a Hazard Mitigation Plan that <br /> includes a prioritized list of mitigation actions including activities that, over time, will help <br /> minimize and reduce safety threats and damage to private and public property. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. The 2018 Hays County, Texas Hazard Mitigation Plan attached hereto is <br /> hereby adopted as an official plan of the City. <br /> PART 2. The City departments identified in the Plan are hereby directed to pursue <br /> implementation of the recommended high priority activities that are assigned to their <br /> departments. <br /> PART 3. Any action proposed by the Plan shall be subject to and contingent upon <br /> budget approval, if required, which shall be at the discretion of the City Council, and this <br /> resolution shall not be interpreted so as to mandate any such appropriations. <br />
