RESOLUTION NO. 2018-25R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ADOPTING THE 2018 HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN AS THE OFFICIAL PLAN OF THE CITY; AUTHORIZING THE INCLUSION OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN AS AN APPENDIX; DESIGNATING THE CITY MANAGER AS THE OFFICIAL AUTHORIZED TO COORDINATE WITH OTHER GOVERNMENT OFFICES AND PREPARE AND SUBMIT REPORTS TO THE TEXAS DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. RECITALS: 1. The City of San Marcos, Texas ("City") has experienced natural hazards that result in public safety hazards and damage to private and public property. 2. The hazard mitigation planning process set forth by the State of Texas and the Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA") offers the opportunity to consider natural hazards and risks, and to identify mitigation actions to reduce future risk. 3. The Texas Division of Emergency Management provided federal mitigation funds to support the update to the mitigation plan. 4. The City has developed a Hazard Mitigation Plan which will be added as an Appendix to the 2018 Hays County, Texas Hazard Mitigation Plan. 5. The Mitigation Planning Committee developed a Hazard Mitigation Plan that includes a prioritized list of mitigation actions including activities that, over time, will help minimize and reduce safety threats and damage to private and public property. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. The 2018 Hays County, Texas Hazard Mitigation Plan attached hereto is hereby adopted as an official plan of the City. PART 2. The City departments identified in the Plan are hereby directed to pursue implementation of the recommended high priority activities that are assigned to their departments. PART 3. Any action proposed by the Plan shall be subject to and contingent upon budget approval, if required, which shall be at the discretion of the City Council, and this resolution shall not be interpreted so as to mandate any such appropriations.
