ORDINANCE N0.2008-4 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING SECTION 4.2.5.1 OF THE CITY LAND <br />DEVELOPMENT CODE TO DESIGNATE AN AREA WITHIN THE CITY <br />AS THE HOPKINS STREET HISTORIC DISTRICT, ALONG THE 500 <br />THROUGH 1200 BLOCKS OF HOPKINS STREET; INCLUDING <br />PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. <br />RECITALS: <br />1. In accordance with Section 4.2.5.1 of the City Land Development Code, the City Historic <br />Preservation Commission has conducted studies and research and reviewed a report on the historic <br />significance of the exteriors of buildings, structures, features, sites, objects, cultural heritage and <br />surroundings in the area of the proposed Hopkins Street Historic District (the "Proposed Hopkins <br />Street Historic District Area"), along the 500 through 1200 Blocks of Hopkins Street, as depicted on <br />the attached map labeled "Proposed Hopkins Street Historic District". <br />2. The Historic Preservation Commission conducted public hearings on the designation of <br />the proposed Hopkins Street Historic District on July 19, 2007 and on December 6, 2007. <br />Subsequent to the public hearings, the Historic Preservation Commission voted to recommend that <br />the Hopkins Street Historic District be designated and established as an official historic district of the <br />City in accordance with the provisions of Section 4.2.5.1 of the City Land Development Code. <br />3. The City Planning and Zoning Commission on September 25, 2007 conducted a public <br />hearing on the designation of the proposed Hopkins Street Historic District, and voted to recommend <br />that the Hopkins Street Historic District be designated and established as an official historic district <br />of the City in accordance with the provisions of Section 4.2.5.1 of the City Land Development Code. <br />4. The City Council on February 5, 2008 conducted a public hearing on the <br />designation of the proposed Hopkins Street Historic District, and the City Council wishes to <br />designate and establish the Hopkins Street Historic District in accordance with the provisions of <br />Section 4.2.5.1 of the City Land Development Code. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br />SECTION 1. Section 4.2.5.1(c)(1) of the City Land Development Code is amended as <br />follows (~ indicates added text): <br />(1) The following local historic districts are established the within the corporate City <br />limits: <br />a. The Belvin Street historic district. <br />b. The San Antonio Street historic district. <br />c. The downtown historic district. <br />
