City of San Marcos <br />al ��Meeting Minutes <br />CouncilCity <br />Tuesday, June 1, 2021 6:00 PM <br />Virtual Meeting <br />This meeting was held using conferencing software due to COVID-19 rules. <br />I. Call To Order <br />With a quorum present, the Regular Meeting of the San Marcos City Council <br />was called to order by Mayor Hughson at 6:01 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2021. The <br />meeting was held online. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Present: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Melissa Derrick, Mayor Jane Hughson, Council Member Maxfield <br />Baker, Council Member Saul Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Shane Scott, <br />Council Member Alyssa Garza and Council Member Mark Gleason <br />III. Invocation <br />Pastor Wayne Jones from University Church of Christ provided tonight's <br />invocation. <br />IV. Pledges of Allegiance - United States and Texas <br />Council Member Gleason led the assembly in the Pledges of Allegiance. <br />V. 30 Minute Citizen Comment Period <br />Pamela Watts, spoke of justice for her life partner Jennifer Miller, who was <br />killed on June 10th in an automotive accident involving San Marcos Police <br />Officer Ryan Hartman. Ms. Watts provided the details of the accident and <br />stated Officer Hartman has shown no remorse for his actions. Ms. Watts stated <br />the Lockhart Police Department charged him with criminal negligence <br />homicide and the case was turned over to a prosecutor who didn't want to <br />judicate the case. <br />Amy Caperton, expressed concern with the lack of justice for her best friend <br />Jennifer Miller who was killed by Officer Ryan Hartman. Ms. Caperton <br />provided memories she shared with and the qualities of Jennifer Miller. <br />Jordan Buckley, spoke on the incident regarding Officer Ryan Hartman.
