Hopkins - Transportation Master Plan Workshop <br />I. Call To Order <br />With a quorum present, the Transportation Master Plan Workshop of the San <br />Marcos City Council was called to order by Mayor Thomaides at 4:04 p.m. <br />Tuesday, May 2, 2017 in the City Council Chambers, 630 E. Hopkins, San Marcos, <br />Texas 78666. <br />11111111119MUM <br />Present: 6 - Mayor John Thomaides, Mayor Pro-Tem Jane Hughson, Mayor Pro Tem Lisa Prewitt, <br />Council Member Ed Mihalkanin, Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Scott Gregson and Mayor Pro <br />Tern Melissa Derrick <br />Absent: 1 - Council Member Saul Gonzales <br />1. Receive a staff presentation on Transportation Master Plan progress and next steps, and <br />provide direction to Staff <br />Rohit Vij, Senior Engineer introduced Rashed Islam, Vice President of HDR <br />Engineering, Inc who provided the Council with the presentation. <br />Mr. Islam provided the City Council with an overview of what the presentation <br />would be covering. He reviewed the Transportation Master Plan Goals: Develop <br />a multimodal transportation system, Obtain "Bicycle Friendly Community" <br />designation, Implement a Complete Streets policy, and integrate the transportation <br />system by coordinating with all related public entities, including, but not limited <br />to, CAMPO, the counties, TxDOT, the University, and the rail district. <br />He provided the Transportation Master Plan update process and how it is used to <br />expand the Thoroughfare Map to support the Comprehensive Plan and connect <br />Intensity Zones. He reviewed the Thoroughfare Prioritization. Mr. Islam <br />provided information regarding bike facilities and the desire for these facilities <br />within the community. <br />Jim Adams, HDR Engineering, provided the Council with an update regarding <br />Greenways. He stated that they have worked with the Greenbelt Alliance on <br />developing this plan. He reviewed where various types of Greenways. <br />City of San Marcos Page 1 <br />
