Stovall, Jerri Hennenkemp, Gary Bond, John Stokes, <br />Herman Caviel, and others. <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held Monday, May 14, 1979 <br />were approved on motion of Mr. Hyatt and second of Mr. James <br />with Mr. James abstaining from the vote due to his absence <br />from a portion of that meeting. <br /> <br />The Mayor presented a plaque to former Mayor Robert L. Cavazos <br />in appreciation for his service as Mayor. <br /> <br />Mayor Hansen opened a public hearing to consider a request for <br />the annexation of 167.,03 acres in J. M. Veramendi League #2 <br />owned by the San Marcos I~dustrial Foundation. Mr. W. C. Carson, <br />President of the Industrial Foundation, announced to the City <br />Council that the property was being purchased by Butler <br />Manufacturing Company, an organization which had plans,fot <br />immediate construction on the site to be developed for industrial <br />purposes. Present from Butler Manufacturing Company were <br />Mr. Dale Carlson and Mr. Bob Virdon. No opposition was presented <br />to the requested annexation. The Mayor closed the public hearing. <br />Mr. Cavazos moved to place the first reading of the annexation <br />ordinance on the June 4, 1979 regular meeting agenda. Mr. Breihan <br />moved to hold special meetings on Tuesday, June 5th and Wednesday, <br />June 6th at 5:30 p.m. to consider second and third readings on <br />the annexation, ordinance.. Mr.. Cavazos seconded the motion which <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced a request for a permit to temporarily locate <br />a mobile home on Block 34 of the Millview Addition, Eastwood <br />Street. Mr. Jerry' Parr, the 'applicant, was present to request <br />the mobile home permit. It was noted that the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission had recommended approval of the request and <br />that no opposition was received. Mr. Hyatt moved the request <br />be approved. Mr. Sutton seconded the motion which passed <br />unanimous~ly . <br /> <br />The Mayor opened discussion on consideration of the employment <br />of an auditinq firm to conduct the City's audit for fiscal year <br />1978-1979. The City Manager reported to the Council that the <br />firm of Harold Simpson and Company had held the auditing contract <br />for the past three years and had done good work for the City. <br />When questioned by Council Member Breihan, Mr. Don Laine, <br />representing Harold Simpson and Company, informed the Council <br />that the cost should remain about the same as it had in the past. <br />
