The City Manager presented the concepts involved in
the program and explained various engineering terms used in discussion of the project.
Mr. Baugh said the engineers had prepared illustrations for a 45' street and a 37'
street. Residents of the area objected to the widening of Bishop Street from Prospect
to Hopkins Street because they did not wish to attract increased traffic volume
and because they did not wish to relinquish the necessary property for right-of-way.
They encouraged the city to plan instead for a loop around the area., Mr.~~ugh explained
that'.mOst-of"the property necessary to construct a loop was outside the city limits,
and that the loop would not necessary affect the volume of traffic on Bishop Street.
James Byrn, consulting engineer, was present to discuss the matter with Council and
visi tors. Questioned by the Mayor, no persons present desired a four-lane stre.et
and all expressing an opinion favored a two-lane street.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m. by common consent.

d-~~

~

Mayor

Ted Breihan
CounciL Member

~~ca9::~

__.Council Member

I

x - (2 d.

~ddOCk ~

CO:il Me~ )
~~

Council Member

~vn a Ua/J"-/J-Vv-
ohn Hansen
Council emb

~ /-1< / J/~~-

~kaetn .
