Samuel Montoya; Alvin <br />Langhamer; Robert Uhr; Kenneth Sutton; Jerri <br />Martin; Juan Palomo; Dani Presswood; Roger <br />Bryant; Lyndon Mellinger <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held January 28, 1974 were <br />approved on motion of Mr. King and second of Mr. Cunningham <br />with Mayor Etheredge and Councilman DeLa Rosa abstaining due <br />to their absence at the meeting. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened a Public Hearing to consider a request for a <br />change in zoning of two tracts of land in the J.M. Veramendi <br />League No.1 from "C" to "C-2". Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mason, <br />applicants, were present and represented by attorney Jerry Klossner <br />who requested the change. The Reverend Ira Irvin of the Calvary <br />Baptist Church came before the Council with a resolution approved <br />by the church in objection to the change. The Reverend Samuel <br />Montoya, representing the C.D. Wallace Ne;ghborhood Association, <br />came before the Council with a petition signed by residents in <br />the area under discussion, said petition having been signed by <br />20% of the property owners within 200 feet of the property to be <br />rezoned. Gordon Harmon, Superintendent of the San Marcos Consol- <br />idated Independent School District, came before the Council to <br />request that the rezoning be denied due to the proximity of the <br />property to Bowie Elementary and the High School. The Mayor <br />closed the hearing and read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH <br />REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, <br />STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY <br />CHANGING THE ZONING OF .71 ACRES AND .703 ACRES OF LAND <br />OUT OF THE J.M. VERAMENDI LEAGUE NO.1, LOCATED AT 1105 <br />HIGHWAY 123, FROM "C" (COMMERCIAL) TO "C-2" (COMMERCIAL). <br /> <br />Mr. DeLa Rosa moved the request be denied and the Ordinance not <br />approved. The motion was seconded by Mr. Flores, and on roll call, <br />the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: DeLa Rosa, Dibrell, Etheredge, Flores, King, Tauch <br />NAY: Cunningham <br />
