Samuel Montoya; Alvin Langhamer; Robert Uhr; Kenneth Sutton; Jerri Martin; Juan Palomo; Dani Presswood; Roger Bryant; Lyndon Mellinger The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held January 28, 1974 were approved on motion of Mr. King and second of Mr. Cunningham with Mayor Etheredge and Councilman DeLa Rosa abstaining due to their absence at the meeting. The Mayor opened a Public Hearing to consider a request for a change in zoning of two tracts of land in the J.M. Veramendi League No.1 from "C" to "C-2". Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mason, applicants, were present and represented by attorney Jerry Klossner who requested the change. The Reverend Ira Irvin of the Calvary Baptist Church came before the Council with a resolution approved by the church in objection to the change. The Reverend Samuel Montoya, representing the C.D. Wallace Ne;ghborhood Association, came before the Council with a petition signed by residents in the area under discussion, said petition having been signed by 20% of the property owners within 200 feet of the property to be rezoned. Gordon Harmon, Superintendent of the San Marcos Consol- idated Independent School District, came before the Council to request that the rezoning be denied due to the proximity of the property to Bowie Elementary and the High School. The Mayor closed the hearing and read the caption of an ordinance as follows: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF .71 ACRES AND .703 ACRES OF LAND OUT OF THE J.M. VERAMENDI LEAGUE NO.1, LOCATED AT 1105 HIGHWAY 123, FROM "C" (COMMERCIAL) TO "C-2" (COMMERCIAL). Mr. DeLa Rosa moved the request be denied and the Ordinance not approved. The motion was seconded by Mr. Flores, and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: DeLa Rosa, Dibrell, Etheredge, Flores, King, Tauch NAY: Cunningham
