Friedrich <br /> <br />Also present: Sam Huey; Weldon Haney; Jerri Martin; Terry Roberts; Melissa <br />Millecam; Jim Witt; Mrs. C.D. Marshall; and others. <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock read a letter of resignation from the Board of Equalization <br />submitted by Mrs. Ross King. Mr. Flores moved acceptance of Mrs. King's <br />resignation. Mr. motion was seconded by Mr. Arredondo, and passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Dibrell nominated Mr. W.D. Owen for appointment to the Board of Equalization. <br />Mr. Breihan seconded the motion. Mr. Sutton stated thatj",Mr. Rodriguez, a former <br />member of the Board, had felt it necessary to resign due to his inability to <br />attend daytime meetings. He asked if arrangements were being made for hearings <br />to be held in the evenings for persons who could not appear before ~he Board <br />during the day. Mr. Williams reported that evening meetings could be scheduled <br />upon request, but that no requests had been received. On roll call, the motion <br />to approve the appointment of Mr. Owen passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock read a prepared statement concerning remarks made by Councilman <br />Sutton at the Special Meeting held May 20, 1975 regarding his concern that there <br />were improprieties involved in the current tax re-evaluation program. The Mayor <br />requested Mr. Sutton show proof in support of the allegations. Mr. Sutton replied <br />that he had no comment except to say that he felt his remarks to have been in order. <br />Council discussed the matter at some length. Mr. Flores moved to give a "vote of <br />confidence to the City staff, the Tax Office, and members of the reappraisal team". <br />Mr. Arredondo seconded the motion. Mr. Breihan stated that he felt the Council <br />had not the right to "judge" the remarks made by Mr. Sutton.
