<br />REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 17, 1954 <br /> <br />On this the 17th day of November, A. D., 1954, at 2:00 P. M., <br />City Council of the City of San Marcos met in a regular meeting at <br />City Hall in San Marcos, Texas, with the following members present <br />participating: ^ <br /> <br />Frank E. Dietterich, Mayor <br />Calvin M. Allen, Alderman <br />Harold G. Smith, Alderman <br />Coy De Viney, Alderman <br /> <br />163 <br /> <br />the <br />the <br />and <br /> <br />Absent ,Tere: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />S. R. Beecroft, Alderman <br />Frank D. Hill, Jr., Alderman <br /> <br />Others present: <br /> <br />W. G. Barbee <br /> <br />Ernest Morgan <br /> <br />A quorum being present, the Vnyor called the meeting to order and <br />the following transpired: <br /> <br />The Council discussed the possibilities of installing street lights <br />on Guadalupe Street to the top of the hill and on Austin street to the <br />top of the hill from the Circle. Mayor Dietterich stated that he had <br />told Mr. Starcke that we would like to have the above lights installed. <br />Mr. Starcke has stated that it may be pOSSible for the lights to be <br />installed in the near future if they have the authorization of the <br />Council. Mayor Dietterich asked that the Council approve the plan and <br />authorize the LOwer Colorado River Authority to proceed with the installa- <br />tion of the lights at the above places. Alderman Smith made a motion <br />that the installation of street lights on Guadalupe and Austin Streets <br />be approved and that the Council authorize the LO';;fer Colorado River <br />Authority to proceed with the installation of said lights as soon as <br />possible. Alderman De Viney seconded the motion. A vote was taken <br />which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. The City Secretary <br />was authorized to send a letter of authorization to Mr. Starcke. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />There .ras a discussion on the need of four 36" drain pipes on <br />South Austin Street which will cost approximately $1,200.00. It was <br />stated that drainage is badly need on this street. Alderman De Viney <br />made a motion that the purchase of these pipes. Alderman Allen <br />seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in <br />favor of the motion. <br /> <br />The Council discussed Mr. J. L. Roberts problem concerning Smith <br />Lane. They asked that Ernest Morgan try to find out how much land the <br />easements over which were presented at the last meeting and also find <br />out exactly what l~. Roberts has in mind. No further action was taken <br />on this matter. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />An ordinance auditing and allowing claim for indebtedness incurred <br />in constructing extensions and improvements to the waterworks system <br />and the sewer system of the City of San Marcos, Texas; authorizing the <br />delivery of City of San ~~rcos Waterworks and Sewer Improvement Warrants, <br />Series of 1954, to evidence said indebtedness; and declaring an emergency, <br />was presented to the Council for adoption. Alderman Allen made a motion <br />that this ordinance be adopted. Alderman De Viney seconded the motion. <br />A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. <br />The ordinance follows these minutes. <br />._L_ (&t) <br />It was stated that the Phoenix(f~~n64rCompany desires to install <br />two 8,000 gal. gas tanks on the highway. TKey plan to build the two <br />tanks three feet above the ground on concrete piers and to place them <br />80 to 100 ft. back from the Highway. The. Company has requested that <br />the City Council approve the installation of these two tanks. After <br />a discussion on this subject, Alderman Allen made a motion that the <br />Council approve the installation of tw'o 8,000 gallon g~soline stor2ge <br />tanks which are to beplace6 three feet above the gro1..u\i:l- on ~oncrete <br />piers and 80 to 100 ft. back from the highway, providing that the <br />Company meets the requirements of the Railroad Commission. Alderman <br />De Viney seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously <br />in favor of the motion. The'tanks will be located near the Leggitt <br />property on the highway. <br /> <br />The Council discussed Payton F. Thomas' and Bob Van Gundy's taxes. <br />
