Dietterich, Mayor
Calvin M. Allen, Alderman
Frank D. Hill, Jr., Alderman
S. R. Beecroft, Alderman
Harold G. Smith, Alderman
Coy De Viney, Alderman

Others Present; W. G. Barbee

Ann Ziemke

George B. Eggleston

A quorum being present, Mayor Dietterich called the meeting to order and the
following transpired;

There was a discussion on the property valuations of property on the
Highway 81. The Council decided not to revise any of the valuations which
Stoner Appraisal Company, San Antonio, Texas, had set up on the property. The
Council was of the opinion that the matter should be turned over to Mr. George B.
Eggleston, a professional right-of-way purchaser, from San Antonio, Texas.
The Council asked Mr. Eggleston if it might be possible to make some sort of
survey to determine the approximate cost of the right-of-way.

The Council had a discussion with Mr. 5[gleston, during which, the Council
aSked Mr. Eggleston what his procedure was in buying right-of-way. He stated that
he would first rework the values and make a value list for the council's review.
He stated that he would then contact the property owners at least three times
before any deal is completed. He would take options which would be made for
6 months. Mr. Eggleston stated that he would report to the Council frequently as
to his progress. Alderman De Viney made a motion that Mr. George B. Eggleston
be hired for a 30 day period to begin February 1st, 1956, and that he be paid
$800.00 for this work. Alderman Smith seconded the motion. A vote was taken
which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion.

Mr. Barbee reported that Mr. R. L. Lightfoot has contacted him again concerning
water for his sub-division. Mr. Lightfoot had presented some plan stating that
he could make the street wider if the property owners would deed five feet of land
to him off the front of their lots, to be used for a street. Mr. Barbee had
suggested to Mr. Lightfoot tbat the Council might approve a plat of one or two
streets, if he would finish these according to requirements of the City and
present a plat to the Council. There was no action taken.

Mr. Barbee reported that Oscar Smith owns the land around the side of the
cemetery where the old deserted road lies. The Council had been considering the
possibilities of acquiring this land (or street) in order to rework it to be used
as a through street. In this way, the street now running through the cemetery could
be blocked to through traffic. Mr. Barbee stated that Ed Williams also owns some
of the property. He stated that after talking with these men, he thinks it might
be possible to get this land for a very reasonable price. ~he Council instructed
Mr. Barbee to proceed with negotiations in order to acquire this property, if it
is at all possible.

There being no further business to discuss,,4he meeting was adjourned at 4;OOp.m.
" I
The foregoing and above minutes is a truJi'i a~d co of all matters
transpiring at the special meeting ll~ .~~uar~ 26,

Frank E. \

Harold G.
