<br />rBS- <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 7, 1956 <br /> <br />On this, the 7th day of August, 1956, at 2:00 P. M. "he City Council of the <br />City of San Marcos, Texas, met in a regular meeting at the City Hall in San <br />Marcos with the following members present and participating: <br /> <br />Calvin M. Allen, Mayor Pro-Tern <br />B. D. Hillburn, Alderman <br />S.', R. Beecroft, Alderman <br />W. M. Davis, Alderman <br />Herman Korff, Alderman <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Others present were: <br /> <br />W. G. Barbee, Executive Secretary <br /> <br />A quorum being present, the meeting waS called to order by Mayor Pro Tem <br />Calvin M. Allen and the following transpired: <br /> <br />After a careful analysis and discussion of purchasing a portion of Right-of- <br />Way for Highway 81, a motion was made by Alderman S. R. Beecroft that the City <br />make an attempt to acquire that portion of the Right-of-Way from the City Limits <br />to Broadway Street with these provisors: <br />1. That the portion on the east side which has been appraised <br />by Mr. Harold Legge, be purchased at the appraised prices. <br />2. That the west side of the Highway from Roy Lane's place to <br />the City Limits south, can be satisfactorily negotiated for. <br />3. And that the State Highway Department will agree to construct <br />an overpass at the county road intersection with Highway 81, <br />at the old Ceramic Plant, and complete construction of the <br />express highway to Broadway Street. <br /> <br />The motion was seconded by Alderman B. D. Hillburn. A vote was taken which <br />resulted as follows: <br /> <br />Alderman Beecroft <br />Alderman Korff <br />Alderman Hillburn <br />Alderman Davis <br /> <br />Yes <br />- Yes <br />Yes <br />No <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />After a discussion of water rates to Gary Air Force Base, when any Civilian <br />Contractor shall be operating same, the price of water to said contractcr would be <br />increased from 6~ per 1000 gallons to 9~ per Ieee gallons, with any and all provisions <br />of the present contract staying as they are with exception of the above. <br /> <br />A motion to the above effect was made by Alderman S. R. Beecroft. Alderman <br />B. D. Hillburn seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously <br />in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />A motion waS made by Alderman Davis that Alderman Hillburn be given authority <br />to sign any City check in the absence of C. M. Allen, klayor Pro Tern. The motion <br />was seconded by Alderman Beecroft. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously <br />in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AUDITING AND ALLOWING CLAIMS fOR INDEBTEDNESS INCURRED IN <br />CONSLRUCTING FIRE STATIONS IN THE CITY OF SAN AffiRGOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE DELIVERY <br />OF CITY OF SAN MARCOS FIRE STATION AND '=QUIPMENT WARRANTS TO EVIDENCE SAID INDEBTEDNESS; <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, was presented to the Council for approval and adoption. <br />Alderman Hillburn made a motion that the Ordinance be adopted. Alderman Beecroft <br />seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the <br />motion. The above ordinance follows these minutes and is a part thereof. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING CALVIN M. ALLEN, TO EXECUTE AS MAYOR PRO TEM OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CITY OF SAN MARCOS FIRE STATION AND EQUIPMENT WARRANTS, <br />NUMBERS 43 TO 50, BOTH INCLUSIVE, IN THE DENOMINATION OF $1,000 EACH, AGGREGATING <br />$8,000.00, AND SUCH FURTHER INSTRUMENTS, CERTIFICATES AND STATEMENTS AS SHALL BE <br />NECESSARY, CONVENIENT OR APPROPRIATE TO REFLECT THE ENTIRE VALIDITY OF SAID WARRANTS; <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY was presented to the Council for approval and adoption. <br />Alderman Beecroft made a motion that the ordinance be adopted. Alderman Korff seconded <br />the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. The <br />above ordinance follows these minutes and is a part thereof. <br /> <br />There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 4:00 P. M. <br /> <br />I <br />l- <br /> <br />The foregoing and above minutes is a true and correct record of all matters <br />transpiring at the regular meeting held on August 7, 1956. <br />
