rBS- REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 7, 1956 On this, the 7th day of August, 1956, at 2:00 P. M. "he City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, met in a regular meeting at the City Hall in San Marcos with the following members present and participating: Calvin M. Allen, Mayor Pro-Tern B. D. Hillburn, Alderman S.', R. Beecroft, Alderman W. M. Davis, Alderman Herman Korff, Alderman I Others present were: W. G. Barbee, Executive Secretary A quorum being present, the meeting waS called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Calvin M. Allen and the following transpired: After a careful analysis and discussion of purchasing a portion of Right-of- Way for Highway 81, a motion was made by Alderman S. R. Beecroft that the City make an attempt to acquire that portion of the Right-of-Way from the City Limits to Broadway Street with these provisors: 1. That the portion on the east side which has been appraised by Mr. Harold Legge, be purchased at the appraised prices. 2. That the west side of the Highway from Roy Lane's place to the City Limits south, can be satisfactorily negotiated for. 3. And that the State Highway Department will agree to construct an overpass at the county road intersection with Highway 81, at the old Ceramic Plant, and complete construction of the express highway to Broadway Street. The motion was seconded by Alderman B. D. Hillburn. A vote was taken which resulted as follows: Alderman Beecroft Alderman Korff Alderman Hillburn Alderman Davis Yes - Yes Yes No I After a discussion of water rates to Gary Air Force Base, when any Civilian Contractor shall be operating same, the price of water to said contractcr would be increased from 6~ per 1000 gallons to 9~ per Ieee gallons, with any and all provisions of the present contract staying as they are with exception of the above. A motion to the above effect was made by Alderman S. R. Beecroft. Alderman B. D. Hillburn seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. A motion waS made by Alderman Davis that Alderman Hillburn be given authority to sign any City check in the absence of C. M. Allen, klayor Pro Tern. The motion was seconded by Alderman Beecroft. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. AN ORDINANCE AUDITING AND ALLOWING CLAIMS fOR INDEBTEDNESS INCURRED IN CONSLRUCTING FIRE STATIONS IN THE CITY OF SAN AffiRGOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE DELIVERY OF CITY OF SAN MARCOS FIRE STATION AND '=QUIPMENT WARRANTS TO EVIDENCE SAID INDEBTEDNESS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, was presented to the Council for approval and adoption. Alderman Hillburn made a motion that the Ordinance be adopted. Alderman Beecroft seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. The above ordinance follows these minutes and is a part thereof. I AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING CALVIN M. ALLEN, TO EXECUTE AS MAYOR PRO TEM OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CITY OF SAN MARCOS FIRE STATION AND EQUIPMENT WARRANTS, NUMBERS 43 TO 50, BOTH INCLUSIVE, IN THE DENOMINATION OF $1,000 EACH, AGGREGATING $8,000.00, AND SUCH FURTHER INSTRUMENTS, CERTIFICATES AND STATEMENTS AS SHALL BE NECESSARY, CONVENIENT OR APPROPRIATE TO REFLECT THE ENTIRE VALIDITY OF SAID WARRANTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY was presented to the Council for approval and adoption. Alderman Beecroft made a motion that the ordinance be adopted. Alderman Korff seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. The above ordinance follows these minutes and is a part thereof. There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 4:00 P. M.
