<br />'fB <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING HEW ON OCTOBER 28. 1958 <br /> <br />167 <br /> <br />On the 28th day of October, 1958, the Council met in Special <br />Se~sion at 2tOO o'clock P.M., Mayor C. M. Allen presiding. The following <br />were present; <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor C. M. Allen <br />Aldermen S. R. Beecroft <br />W. M. Davi~ <br />B. D. Hillhurn <br />Herman Korff <br />H. w. Steakley <br /> <br />City Manager B. R. Fuller <br />City Secretary Carlyn Tatch <br /> <br />Mayor Allen called the meeting to order and explained that <br />each member of the Council had received notice of the meeting, a copy of <br />the agenda and the items to be discussed. <br /> <br />A letter from the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce inviting the <br />Council to attend the Centennial Celebration wa~ read to the council. <br /> <br />The Mayor advised the Council that all the 1958 Current Expense <br />Warrants ($20,000.00) had been repaid and that $15,000.00, from the General <br />Revenue Fund, had been invested in 91-Day Treasury Bills. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Alderman Hi11burn, seconded by Alderman <br />Steakley, and unanimously approved, to install a street light at the inter- <br />section of OD~OS DRIVE and WOOD STREET. This light had been requested by <br />Mr. H. ;r.. Nelson. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"IT. Ross Arnolds' request to remDve seven (7) parking meters <br />and the curb on the West side of N. Austin street where he wants to install <br />a used car lot, was discussed by the City Council. After cDnsidering the <br />advantages and disadvantages, a motion was made by Alderman Hil1burn, <br />seconded by Alderman Korff, and carried unanimously, that Mr. Arnold he <br />permitted to remove the seven (7) meters and further, if the area ceases to <br />be used as a IJsed car lot, the meters and curb are to be replaced at his <br />(Mr. Arnolds') expense. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported on a matter referred from the October <br />14th meeting, regarding Mr. A. E. Garys' request that the City purchase <br />Lot 9, Block 4, McKie 1st Addition. The City Attorney had indicated that, <br />if and when, Mr. Gary could furnish satisfactory title or a title insurance <br />policy on the property, the City could, if then desired, purchase the lot. <br />It was the Councils' pleasure that the city would purchase Lot 9, Block 4, <br />McKie 1st Addition from Mr. Gary for the sum of $400.00, when the City <br />Attorney is satisfied as to title. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported on a conference with Mr. Robert Kone, <br />Del Rio, Texas, regarding donating of required right-of-way for extension of <br />Linda Drive across Lots 6 and 7 of Rogers No.1. <br /> <br />The Council considered the Preliminary Final Plans and Specifi- <br />cations for contruction of Sewage Treatment Plant Improvements prepared by <br />Freese, Nichols & Turner. On motion, Alderman Hillburn, seconded by Alderman <br />Steakley, and unanimously carried, the Council approved the plans and <br />specifications, subject to certain minor changes and corrections and authorized <br />that the project be advertised with bids received until ItOO o'clock P.M. on <br />December 2nd. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Alderman Beecroft introduced a Resolution, and moved its ap- <br />proval, setting minimum wages to be paid to laborers, workmen and mechanics <br />for specified types of labor. This motion was seconded by Alderman Hillburn <br />and upon roll call the Ayes and Nayes were; <br /> <br />AYES, Beecroft <br />Davis <br />Hillburn <br />Korff <br />Steakley <br /> <br />NAYES, None <br />
