Mayor Allen <br />reported ~o the Council on the recent negotia~ions ~ith representatives <br />of the U.3. Army rOI' 3 possible 5i te in 3an iVi2:r'COS on which the Army <br />might construct 3n Army Reserve Tr2ining Center. The s.i te under' considera- <br />tion is located just to the 0ou":hv.Jest of the baseball park, par:ially on <br />land in the San (,'lareos ivlemor':L21 aecrs2tion Park and pal'tially on la~d <br />D\~ned by Peul J. :i.ogers. IJir. ~-~Qgers '-iil/aS requested by the Council to state <br />the price which he would ask the City for the 3-3~' acres of his land ~hich <br />the City might need to purchase in order to provide the entire site of <br />four (4) acres ror the proposed ii.rroy Heserve Training Center. Mr. Rogel'S f <br />asking price ~as One Thousand Two HUhdred Fifty ano nO/100 Dollars <br />($1,250.00) per aGe. A1derm~n Beecroft made a motion, aeco:Jced by <br />Alderman Steakl~y, that il six (6) month option he taken on the purchase <br />of IvII'. hagel'S 1 land, if it is needed to provide the site fo::: dle proposed <br />Army deserve Trainirlg center, at the price of On0 Thousand Tvw ::undred <br />Fifty 0011ars ($1,250.00) per acre qu~ted by [iIr. Rogers. Upon Toll call <br />the ayes and naves were: <br /> <br />Ayes Beecroft <br />Davis <br />Hillburn <br />Korff <br />Steakley <br />Nayes: None <br />H~lereupon the Mayor declared "the motion passed and in consideration of <br />the possible legal requirements oi: the U.S. Army in comple-ting the <br />negotiations for thJ,s site, Mayor Allen requested that City AttoTney Morgan <br />draw up a six month writ~en op~ion for the City on the 3-3~ acres of <br />Ur. ~ogerst land. <br /> <br />Mr. Korff made a motion, seconded by lvir. 'Steakley, that the <br />Council go on record stating that the U.s. j~rmy may use thIS site on <br />which -Co huild ihe proposed Army Reserve Training Center. The motion <br />~as passed by a unanimous vote of the Council. <br /> <br />The Council next considered the problem of financing the Sewage <br />Lift S~ation. A financial report of cash and investments owned by the <br />City was presented by City i\lanag-cl' Fuller, as ~~Jell as a I'eport on the <br />project cos';; and the estimated schedule or payment anticipated. From a <br />study of these repor~s Mayor Allen noted that ~pproximately $15,000.00 <br />above the pI'esent cas~l assets would be needed by April 1, 1959, in oI'der <br />to finance the construction of the proposed Lift Station. Tl18 question <br />placed hefore the Council was the means of raising ,this cash. After <br />some discussion of the financial advantages and disadvantages of liquidating <br />some of the Cityls assets, it was suggested by ['.'Jr. Ed Cape, president of <br />tne 3-tc:te Bank &.
