Weldon E. Polzin
W. P. Estes
Lewis Morgan

The City Manager reported that the Chamber of Commerce
had requested assistance in obtaining adequate and proper street
decorations for the Christmas season. It was estimated that a
single unit decoration would cost $110. After consideration,
Alderman Hillburn moved that the City spend up to $110 for one
unit decoration, motion was seconded by Alderman Davis and
carried.

I

The public hearing for the improvements to Interstate
35 has been set for October 18th. The City Manager exhibited
a strip map of the area showing the proposed improvements for the
Council's consideration. Mayor Pro-tern Tuttle was asked to
appear with City Manager Fuller and represent the City at the hear-
ing.

A street light at the corner of Elm and Liveoak was
approved for installation.

Mr. Polzin, spokesman for a group from Barbara Drive,
appeared before the Council to protest the proposed Holt-Horton
Addition known as Greendale No.3. The Council listened to the
requests of the citizens and informed them that until such time
as a plat was presented for consideration, the council could
take no positive action.

The group also discussed with the Council the possibility
of zoning the city to provide protection from construction or
usage which would tend to lower the valuation of adjacent property.
The Council was sympathetic to enacting a zoning ordinance if it
is supported by a majority of the citizens of the city. The
group indicated that they would be interested in circulating a
petition if the proper type of request could be drawn. The
Council instructed the City Manager to have the City Attorney
prepare the necessary request for the citizens to sign requesting
the enactment of a zoning ordinance.

I

no further business the Council, on motion: ~'

(n 7;)\ O:(2-f.",,/

c.
