<br />~PECIAL MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 27, 1960 <br /> <br />On the 27th day of October 1960 at 2:00 o'clock P. M. , the <br />Governing Body of the City of ~an Marcos met in ~pecial Session at the <br />City Hall, Mayor C. ~. Allen presiding. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor C. M. Allen <br /> Alderman W. M. Davis <br />I B. D. Hillburn <br /> Herman Korff <br /> James Tuttle <br /> City Manager B. R. Fuller <br />Absent: Alderman ~. 2. Beecroft <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by the Mayor who stated <br />that the purpose of the meeting was to receive bids for a motor <br />vehicle. The Mayor opened the bids and after careful considera- <br />tion of the bids re~ved (see tabulation attached), Alderman <br />Tuttle moved that the low bid of $2,084.37 from the Arnold-Mauldin <br />Motors be accepted. This motion was seconded by Alderman Hillburn <br />and carried. <br /> <br />The Council authorized the City Manager to purchase <br />sufficient parking meters to complete the installation around <br />the new Federal bUilding. The type of meters authorized for <br />purchase were "Karpark" at $40.00 each payable on the basis of <br />$2.00 per month per meter. These meters have been used but carry a <br />new meter guarantee. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager was authorized to prepare a contract <br />with Beretta Greenslade Associates to do the engineering work for <br />utility changes involved in the widening on Interstate 35. This <br />contract is to be sent to the State Highway Department for <br />approval and a decision that it is subject to reimbursement before <br />being sent to the engineers for acceptance. The base fee in <br />the contract for all work is not to exceed 6% plus l~% for all <br />supervision authorized. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that the Industrial Foundation <br />had requested that the City open and improve a street (50 foot <br />right-of-way) from Interstate 35 in to the new site of the <br />WideU te Corp plant. In addition, the City is to extend a 6" <br />water line to provide fire protection to the plant, the distance <br />to be between 400 and 500 feet. A 6" sewer line will be extended <br />from ~herwood Ave. up through the Leggitt property to the boundry <br />of the property under consideration by the Widelitf Corp.
