<br />~5-/ <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING HElD ON NOVEMBER 15, 1960 <br /> <br />On the 15th day of November 1960, at 11:00 o'clock in <br />the morning, the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos met in <br />Special Session at the City Hall, Mayor C. M. Allen presiding. <br /> <br /> Upon roll call the following members answered present: <br />I Present: Mayor C. M. Allen <br /> Alderman S. R. Bee cro ft <br /> W. M. Davis <br /> B. D. Hillburn <br /> Herman Korff <br /> City Manager B. R. Fuller <br /> Absent: Alderman James Tuttle <br /> <br />The Mayor explained that the meeting had been called to <br />discuss the entrance road into the rear of the Hays County Memorial <br />Hospital. Alderman Korff explained that he had been approached by <br />members of the Hays County Medical Association who had requested <br />that the City proceed as rapidly as possible with the construction, as <br />the rear entrance road was badly needed by the doctors and emergency <br />vehicles going to the hospital. <br /> <br />After considerable discussion, a motion was made by <br />Alderman Beecroft, seconded by Alderman Korff, that the City proceed <br />with acquisition of right-of-way and construction of an entrance <br />road along a direct route from Long Street to the rear, or emergency <br />entrance, of the Hospital. <br /> <br />Ayes: Aldermen Beecroft, Davis, Hillburn and Korff. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Nays. None (Alderman Tuttle had previously expressed <br />apporval of this route) <br /> <br />The Mayor requested that the City Manager negotiate with <br />Mr. Cullen Crews for the right-of-way and as soon as it was cleared <br />to proceed with the construction of the road. <br /> <br />The City Manager presented a request from the Southwest <br />Texas State College to close a portion of Albemarle Street from <br />the North line of Concho Street to an alley known as East Woods <br />Street. The College will dedicate to the City a strip along the <br />Northern edge of Block 5, H. B. Coffield Addn., to make East Woods <br />Street a minimum of 40 feet wide. Upon motion of Alderman Hillburn, <br />seconded by Alderman Davis, and with the unaminous approval of the <br />members present, the request was granted and the City Manager and <br />City Attorney were directed to prepare the necessary resolution <br />authorizing the transfer. <br /> <br />Alderman Hillburn requested the City Manager to discuss <br />with the President of the College the City's interest in obtaining <br />additional right-of-way in order to straighten and improve Olmos <br />Drive. This right-of-way had been offered the College by Mr. <br />Tushek, then the City could exchange the present easement for <br />the area required for the new location. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />ATTEST. <br /> <br /> <br />There being no <br />adjourned at 11:35 A.
