~~~ ADJOURNED REGULAR NtEETING OF MAY ?_4, 1862 Present: Mayor C. n4, A11en Aldermen Dr, William L, Moore Reuben Ruiz H. Garland Stokes Lee Swift J. E, Younger, Jr. City Manager B. R, Fuller ' City Secretary George C. Reed Guests: Mrs. Jerri Veidt, i=i. E, Ruiz, and a group from Sociedad Cuauhtemoc, Elwood Soechting, Walter Buckner. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Allen. Alderman .Swift gave the Invocation, Mr. ?, E. Ruiz, representing the Sociedad Cuauhtemoc, explained the contents of the 1®tter received by the Council from his Society, He asked for more free enterprise in the actions of Cuauhtemoc Park and to use the Park for dances to be held on Sunday. Alderman Stokes suggested that the Council go into this problem at the next regular meeting. The matter to be discussed with the Chief of Police and he be present to give his vieVrs on the matter. The matter of courtesy parking was discussed. Alderman Swift moved that City Manager`s Plan be adopted as presented to the Council and the matter of the Courtesy Card be referred to the Chamber of Commerce for printing. Alderman Stokes seconded the motion and the motion carried.. Alderman Swift asked the City Manager how expensive it would ' be to erect a gate and ticket booth at the entrance to the Ma,~or Baseball Park. After some discussion, bir. Fuller said the gate would be ready for use by June lst, Alderman Stokes suggested an Ordinance be prepared prohibit- ing signs on public streets and public property such as utility poles, nlr, Fuller said he thought there was such an Ordinance against same already in the Minutes and he would look into the matter and furnish a copy to the Council.. Alderman Stokes mentioned the need for a Dog 6rdinance to aid in the effective control of rabies. After considerable discussion, Alderman Swift made a motion that the City A4anager draft an Ordinance requiring the vaccination of dogs within the City, Alderman Stokes seconded the motion and the motion carried, The matter of lack of uniformity of our traffic signal lights was discussed and the City Manager was asked to look into the possibility of purchasing ASSHO approved lights from some surplus source at a savings to the City, The need for some new stop signs in the City was presented by members of the Council and on the motion of Alderman Ruiz seconded by Alderman Stokes and approved by members of the ' Council; the following stop signs were ordered to be erected: Corner of Union and East Hopkins Streeta with the sign on East Hopkins, three way stop signs to be placed on Academy and Lindsey Streets; and, four way stop signs to be placed on Lindsey and North Streets, Alderman Nloore as'_red that the intersection below the Old Gymnasium for Men at the College be investigated for additional sites, The City .Manager Items were brought to the attention of the Council and the matter of the Planning Commission discussed. 1 ~:r.
