~~~ <br />ADJOURNED REGULAR NtEETING OF MAY ?_4, 1862 <br />Present: Mayor C. n4, A11en <br />Aldermen Dr, William L, Moore <br />Reuben Ruiz <br />H. Garland Stokes <br />Lee Swift <br />J. E, Younger, Jr. <br />City Manager B. R, Fuller <br />' City Secretary George C. Reed <br />Guests: Mrs. Jerri Veidt, i=i. E, Ruiz, and a group <br />from Sociedad Cuauhtemoc, Elwood Soechting, <br />Walter Buckner. <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Allen. Alderman <br />.Swift gave the Invocation, <br />Mr. ?, E. Ruiz, representing the Sociedad Cuauhtemoc, explained <br />the contents of the 1®tter received by the Council from his <br />Society, He asked for more free enterprise in the actions of <br />Cuauhtemoc Park and to use the Park for dances to be held on <br />Sunday. Alderman Stokes suggested that the Council go into <br />this problem at the next regular meeting. The matter to be <br />discussed with the Chief of Police and he be present to give <br />his vieVrs on the matter. <br />The matter of courtesy parking was discussed. Alderman <br />Swift moved that City Manager`s Plan be adopted as presented <br />to the Council and the matter of the Courtesy Card be referred <br />to the Chamber of Commerce for printing. Alderman Stokes <br />seconded the motion and the motion carried.. <br />Alderman Swift asked the City Manager how expensive it would <br />' be to erect a gate and ticket booth at the entrance to the Ma,~or <br />Baseball Park. After some discussion, bir. Fuller said the gate <br />would be ready for use by June lst, <br />Alderman Stokes suggested an Ordinance be prepared prohibit- <br />ing signs on public streets and public property such as utility <br />poles, nlr, Fuller said he thought there was such an Ordinance <br />against same already in the Minutes and he would look into the <br />matter and furnish a copy to the Council.. <br />Alderman Stokes mentioned the need for a Dog 6rdinance <br />to aid in the effective control of rabies. After considerable <br />discussion, Alderman Swift made a motion that the City A4anager <br />draft an Ordinance requiring the vaccination of dogs within the <br />City, Alderman Stokes seconded the motion and the motion <br />carried, <br />The matter of lack of uniformity of our traffic signal <br />lights was discussed and the City Manager was asked to look <br />into the possibility of purchasing ASSHO approved lights from <br />some surplus source at a savings to the City, <br />The need for some new stop signs in the City was presented <br />by members of the Council and on the motion of Alderman Ruiz <br />seconded by Alderman Stokes and approved by members of the <br />' Council; the following stop signs were ordered to be erected: <br />Corner of Union and East Hopkins Streeta with the sign on East <br />Hopkins, three way stop signs to be placed on Academy and Lindsey <br />Streets; and, four way stop signs to be placed on Lindsey and <br />North Streets, Alderman Nloore as'_red that the intersection <br />below the Old Gymnasium for Men at the College be investigated <br />for additional sites, <br />The City .Manager Items were brought to the attention of the <br />Council and the matter of the Planning Commission discussed. <br />1 ~:r. <br />
