Pool <br />Ruben Ruiz <br />Ellis Serur <br />A.G. Tuttle <br /> <br />City Manager <br />City Secretary <br /> <br />B.H. Fuller <br />Dorothy O. Worrell <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Alderman <br /> <br />Mark H. Whittenberg <br /> <br />Visitors: <br /> <br />Mrs. Jerri Veidt, Walter Buckner, Herman Korff, <br />J.T. Banister, Don Uzzell <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 8145 a.m. <br /> <br />Alderman Pool said 1 "Since it has been quite obvious for over a year that <br />additional help is desperately needed in OUr City Hall, I move that the <br />Council authOrize the employment of an Assistant City Manager at a salary <br />of $5400.00 per year." Alderman Serur seconded the motion. The question <br />being called for, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Pool, Ruiz, Serur, Tuttle <br />NAY 1 None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Alderman Ruiz introduced the matter of the Ordinance Regulating Parking <br />on the West Side of Academy Street, passed by the Council on April 8, 1964, <br />and suggested that an amendment to the ordinance be passed in order to clarify <br />the exact meaning, and avoid further misunderstanding. Councilmen discussed <br />thoroughly the intent and interpretation of the Ordinance. Alderman Ruiz moved <br />that Section 1 of the referenced Ordinance be amneded to read: <br /> <br />"SEer ION 1. It shall herea fter be unlawful to pa rk any vehicle <br />on the west side of Academy Street from the north right-of-way <br />line of Lindsey street to the south right-of-way line of James <br />Street. .. <br /> <br />Alderman Pool seconded the motion, and on roll call the following vote <br />was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Pool, Ruiz, SerUr, Tuttle <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Amending an Ordinance Regulating Parking <br />on the West Side of Academy Street Passed, Approved and Adopted. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Don Uzzell was recognized from the floor by the Mayor. He asked the- <br />Council why the parking ordinance could not be enforced; he complained <br />that the Police Department had not come to investigate and issue parking <br />tickets when he had called to report a vehicle parked in violation of the <br />present ordinance. Alderman Ruiz expressed the opinion that in the future <br />there would be less cause for complaint about infractions of the parking <br />ordinance, with the amendment as the first step in clarifying the intent <br />of the ordinance. <br /> <br />:::c <br />== <br />>-: <br />::!l <br />;'\1 <br /> <br />H6Z <br />
