Houck, <br />B.A. Copass, Russel I Scott, Jerri Veidt, <br />John Smith <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. <br />Paul Powel I, Pastor of First Baptist Church, gave the Invocation. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the December 19 and December 29, 1967 meetings were <br />approved as presented, on motion of Counci Iman Damon and second of <br />Counci Iman Flores. . <br /> <br />W.W. Cox, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, appeared <br />before theCounci I to r~quest that the Counci I ask the State <br />Highway Commission to reconsider the;;.. decision against two-way <br />traffic on Interstate 35 frontage roads in San Marcos. Mr. Cox <br />cited the i~creased traffic expected during HemisFair, the four <br />conve~tions already scheduled at Holiday Innj and the need for <br />more conven i ent a.ccess to mote I. s on the frontage roads. The <br />matter was discussed and the previous efforts made by civic groups <br />and the City Counci r, reCalled, Dr. Cr~ddock moved that the <br />Counci I inv.estigate thefeasibi I ity of chang.ingthe staus of the <br />frontage roads on Interstate 35. Directors of Aquarena, Inc. had advised the City <br />Counci I they would lease the golf course for the total amount of <br />their taxes on the property: $4,765. The Golf Association offered <br />to reimbursethe City in the a.mount of $2,00.0. The Association's <br />annual budget Was presented to show its ability to assist in that <br />amount. Counci Iman Flores moved that the Counci I offer a counter- <br />proposa I: that the Gal f Assoc i at i on share the cost of the I ease <br />egually with the City, or 50 % of $4,765.
