Whittenberg <br /> <br />Visitors: <br /> <br />Jerri Veidt, Tom Buckne~ Gene Rourke <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. <br /> <br />The City Manager informed the Counci I that Virgi I Cowan had <br />made the City an offer of $80 an acre for the five-acre tract <br />he wished to purchase. Mr. Bean said this was the assessed <br />value, and that the Land Committee concurred in the price. <br />Counci Iman Damon moved that the City sell the five-acre tract <br />to Mr. Cowan for $80 an acre. Counci Iman Flores seconded the <br />motion and on 1'01 I call the fol lowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The City Manager informed the Counc; I that the Airport Manager <br />is leaving, and that negotiations had been reopened with Bob <br />Crutchfield on a contract. He said it Was the same contract <br />that had been approved in 1967, but never executed. Dr. Pool, <br />Counci Iman for Airport Affairs, recommended that the contract <br />with Mr. Crutchfield be executed, and made a motion to that <br />effect. Mr. Damon seconded the motion. The matter was dis- <br />cussed further. On roll cal I, the fol lowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager explained to the Counci 1 the need for additional <br />space for entertaining at the Recreation Hall when Trai IeI' Rallies <br />are held in the City Park. An unusual number of rallies are sched- <br />uled during HemisFair, the registration for the Easter Rally ex- <br />pected to read between 500 and 800 trai leI'S. He recommended that <br />the concrete slab on the east side of the Recreation Hal I be roof- <br />ed so that it could be used for dining and other gatherings. <br />Mr. Bean said the roof would conform to the present bui Iding, and <br />would cost between $2100 and $2200, using City labor. He said in- <br />come from the trai leI'S in 1967 was $2775, a figure that would be <br />greatly exceeded in 1968. Mr. Korff said the restrooms should be <br />roofed whi Ie the crew was working there. Mr. Damon moved that <br />a roof and doors be put on the restrooms, and a roof bui It over <br />the concrete slab, provided the whole project could be bui It for <br /> <br />$3000. Mr. Korff seconded the motion and on roll call, the follow <br /> <br />ing vote was recorded: <br />
