Phillips <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the July 8 meeting were approved as presented, <br />on motion of Mr. Flores and second of Mr. Smith. <br /> <br />Jim .T. Brown, Executive Director of the Urban Renewal Agency, <br />came before the Council to request a public hearing on the <br />Juan Veramendi General Neighborhood Renewal Plan, Tex-R-90. <br />He explained~hat this .as the sam~ plan approved by the Council <br />on_Mar:ch 27, 1?67,with one ~xception: ,the City should incorporate <br />the GNRP lnto ltS Comprehenslve Communlty Plan, wlth care not to <br />duplicate any of the work prepared in the GNRP. Councilman Zavesky <br />moved that the public hearing be Bet for 6:00 ~.m,. Thorsday, <br />August 8, 1968, in the Recreation Hall of City Park. Dr. Craddock <br />seconded the motion, which. passed Unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloud a letter from J. E. Younger, jr.,. Chairman of <br />the Planning & Zoning Commission, in which he ~tated that a public <br />hearing had been held on a reques~~o rezone two lots in the <br />Mi11view Addition. Since no protest was received, the Commission <br />recommended that the request be grante'd. Councilmen studied a <br />plat of the area, and the City map during the discussion. Dr. <br />Craddock moved that the Council approve a change of zoning on <br />lots 33 & 34, Millview Addition, from R-l (residential, single <br />family) to M ("mixed"), Mr. Dannelley seconded the motion and on <br />roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Dannelley, Flores, Serur, S"l'Lth, Zavesky <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion ~arried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor stated the Counc.il was due to appoint three members to <br />the Library Board. A list of eligible persons had been compiled <br />by the Board and submitted to the Council for consideration. <br />Councilmen were asked to submit additional names, if ~esired. <br />A secret ballot was taken. The result being annouhced, Dr. Craddock <br />moved that Mrs. laurencio Munoz, Miss ~uth Thomas and Mrs. Non <br />Douglas Wray be appointed to the library Board. Mr. flores seconded <br />the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />
