I I I 80 RESOLUTION NO. 1979-25-R RESOLUTION ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS X' THE COUNTY OF HAYS X CITY OF SAN MARCOS On this, the 9th day of April, 1979, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Hays County, Texas, convened in ~gular Session at the regular meeting place at City Hall in said City, with the following members present: Mayor Robert L. Cavazos, Council Members Breihan, Hansen, Hyatt, James and Sutton, and City Secretary Hambrick: and those absent were: NONE. WHEREAS, no candidate for Place 6 in the Regular City Election held April 7, 1979, received a majority of the total vote, as required by Sec. 5;5 of the Charter of the City of San Marcos: and, WHEREAS, the two candidates receiving the largest number of votes in Place 6 were Berry R. James and Fred Guerra: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: That a special election be held in said City on the 5th of May, 1979, to determine the winning candidates for Place 6. Doriss Hambrick is hereby appointed Clerk for absentee voting and Mary Castillo and Julie villanueva are hereby appointed Deputy Clerks for absentee voting. The absentee voting shall be held at City Hall within said City and said place of absentee voting shall remain open for at least eight hours on each day for absentee voting which is not a Saturday, a Sunday, or an official State holiday, beginning on the 16th day and continuing through the 30th day preceding the date of said election. Said place of voting shall remain open between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on each day for said absentee voting. The above described place for absentee voting is also the absentee clerk's mailing address to which ballot applications and ballots voted by mail may be sent. That said election shall be held in accordance with the Election Code of this State and only resident qualified voters of said City shall be eligible to vote at said election. Notice of said election will be given in accordance with the Election Code, and the City Secretary is hereby instructed to have said notice posted and/or published in accordance with said Article 4.05. IinInediately after said election is held, the officers fiolding same shall make returns of the result thereof to the Mayor of this City as required by the Election Code of this state. A copy of this Resolution shall also serve as a writ of election which shall be delivered to the above appointed Presiding Judges, for said election.
