<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />84 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1979-17 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CONTINUING <br />THE TAXES IMPOSED BY THE LOCAL SALES AND <br />USE TAX ACT (ARTICLE 1066c, VERNON'S <br />TEXAS CIVIL STATUTES) ON THE SALE AND <br />DISTRIBUTION OF GAS AND ELECTRICITY FOR <br />RESIDENTIAL USE WITHIN SAN MARCOS, TEXAS; <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND ESTABLISHING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That the taxes authorized by the Local <br />Sales and Use Tax Act (Article 1066c, Vernon's Texas Civil <br />Statutes) on the receipts from the sale, production, distribu- <br />tion, lease, or rental of, and the use, storage, or other <br />consumption of gas and electricity for residential use, be, <br />and are hereby, continued as authorized by Article 1066c, <br />Section 4A. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That the importance of this Ordinance <br />and the requirement of State law that said Ordinance be adopted <br />prior to May 1, 1979 if continuance of the taxes is desired, <br />create an emergency and an imperative purpose necessary that <br />the provision of the Charter requiring all ordinances be read <br />at three separate meetings be suspended, and this provision is <br />hereby suspended. <br /> <br />SECTION 3.
