<br />209 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1976-10 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING <br />CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE III, DIVISION 1 OF TIlE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS BY REPEALING SEC. 2-31 <br />OF SAID CODE AND SUBSTITUTING IN ITS PLACE A NEW SEC. 2-31; <br />ESTABLISHING THE CLASSIFICATION WITHIN THE POLICE CIVIL <br />SERVICE, CHANGING THE NAMES OF THE CLASSIFICATION OF <br />POSITIONS WITHIN THE FIRE CIVIL SERVICE, THE NUMBER OF SUCH <br />POSITIONS AUTHIR I ZED , AND THE SALARY SCHEDULE FOR SUCH <br />POSITIONS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, ~he City Council has heretofore established the number of positions, <br />classifications and salary in grade for civil service personnel pursuant to the <br />requirements of law; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Section 2-31 of Division 1, Article III, Chapter 2 of said <br />Code of Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, Texas, be, and is hereby, in all <br />things repealed and deleted from said Code so as to no longer be of any force <br />and effect. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Due to the nature of this Ordinance in dealing with the essential <br />services of Police and Fire protection for the citizens of this City, an <br />emergency is declared and the provisions of the Charter requiring that ordinances <br />shall be read on three several occasions, and that no ordinance shall become <br />final and effective until the expiration of ten (10) days following the date of <br />its final passage is hereby dispensed with, this Ordinance to become effective <br />immediately from and after its passage by this Council. <br />
