<br />14 <br /> <br />RESOWTION NO 1975-Z0-R <br /> <br />WHEREAS, President Lee H. Smith of Southwest Texas State University was <br /> <br />selected by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities <br /> <br />to be a part of a delegation of twenty state college and university <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />presidents to visit the People's Republic of China during the period of <br /> <br />April 1 through 21, 1975; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Lee H. Smith will have traveled approximately 20,000 miles as <br /> <br />an ambassador for the American system of higher education and for South- <br />west Texas State University and the City of San Marcos; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Smitil will have visited educational institutions in Tokyo, <br /> <br />Japan; Hong Kong; Canton, Shanghai, Soochow, Wusih, Nanking, and Peking <br />in the People's Republic of China in order to explore curriculum develop- <br /> <br />ment for career education and the possibilities for exchange of faculty, <br /> <br />students, and publications as well as to :improve understanding of tile <br /> <br />People's Republic of China in United States colleges and universities; <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of San Marcos join with the faculty, staff, and <br /> <br /> <br />students of the Uni versi ty in honoring Dr. Smith upon his return; now, <br /> <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TDCAS: <br /> <br />"WELCOME HOME, LEE H.
