<br />158 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1974-15~R <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, t'D"s. Jack N. Stovall, with great energy and forethought, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />was one of the first San Marcans to recognize the benefits of <br />beginning a plan for the 1776-1976 Bicentennial Celebration; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the original Bicentennial Corrmission recognized the qualities <br /> <br />of leadership possessed by Mrs. Stovall in naming her the first General <br /> <br /> <br />Chairman of the San Marcos Bicentennial Commission on May 31, 1972; an.d <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mrs. Stovall has guided the Commission towan:'! a meaningful, and <br /> <br />impressive program for the celebration which includes all ages and all <br />sectors of the City and, further, has received national acclaim for <br />San Marcos through its designation as one of the first National Bicentennial <br /> <br />Cities as well as n1..lll\erous other award~; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council has received, with regret, the resignation of Mrs. Stovall <br /> <br />as General Chai:rm3.n: <br /> <br />~I <br />! <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the City Council of the City of <br /> <br />San Marcos, Texas, that recognition be awarded l1r's. Jack N.
