<br />/5 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, ten years ago an opportunity arose for the util ization <br /> <br />II of federal funds for the purchase and development of a park <br /> <br />area along the west bank of the San Marcos River; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, outstanding leadership was provided by members of the <br /> <br />San Marcos City Council who were in office at that time, thereby <br /> <br />leading to overwhelming approval by the electorate of an Urban <br /> <br />Renewal Agency to implement ~he beautification and redevelopment <br /> <br />of the area; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos has.this week accepted a.deed <br /> <br />to the beautiful and historic Juan Veramendi Plaza; and, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the fruits of their l~bors an~those of succeeding <br /> <br />Councilmen who helped keep the "River Project" alive will be <br /> <br />enjoyed by al I of the citizens of San Marcos and those of <br /> <br />future generations: <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Members of the present <br /> <br />City Council of San Marcos officially commend and praise the <br /> <br />late Mayor C.M. Allen and former City Councilmen Dr. Wi I I iam <br /> <br />L. Moore, Ruben Ruiz, H. Garland Stokes, Lee Swift and <br /> <br />J,E.
