• RESOLUTION 2011- 16 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE GUADALUPE- BLANCO RIVER AUTHORITY'S APPLICATION FOR FLOOD PROTECTION PLANNING GRANT ASSISTANCE FILED WITH THE TEXAS WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. • • RECITALS 1. The Guadalupe - Blanco River Authority ( "GBRA "), desires to develop a basin - wide Flood Protection Planning Study (see the Attached Exhibit A) for the lower Guadalupe River, understanding that the river and its tributaries drain areas within the City of San Marcos; 2. The City of San Marcos, Texas, recognizes that the proposed planning does not duplicate existing projects with the exception of updating existing flood protection plans; 3. GBRA will appropriate matching funds and in -kind services, if the grant is awarded, and the City of San Marcos, Texas, may consider appropriating matching funds and in- kind services for studies of creeks in its area, to assist with the financing of the Flood Protection Planning Study and any improvements as agreed; 4. The City of San Marcos, Texas, will work with GBRA to pursue implementation of viable solutions identified through the proposed planning effort and will pursue and identify potential sources of funding for implementation of viable solutions; and 5. The City of San Marcos is currently participating in the National Flood Insurance Program making flood insurance available for all insurable structures in their respective incorporated and unincorporated areas; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. The City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas supports the GBRA's application to the Texas Water Development Board for flood protection planning grant assistance. PART 2. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately from and after its passage. ADOPTED this the 1st day of February, 2011 1
