• <br />RESOLUTION 2011- 16 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE GUADALUPE- <br />BLANCO RIVER AUTHORITY'S APPLICATION FOR FLOOD <br />PROTECTION PLANNING GRANT ASSISTANCE FILED WITH <br />THE TEXAS WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />• <br />• <br />RECITALS <br />1. The Guadalupe - Blanco River Authority ( "GBRA "), desires to develop a basin - <br />wide Flood Protection Planning Study (see the Attached Exhibit A) for the lower Guadalupe <br />River, understanding that the river and its tributaries drain areas within the City of San Marcos; <br />2. The City of San Marcos, Texas, recognizes that the proposed planning does not <br />duplicate existing projects with the exception of updating existing flood protection plans; <br />3. GBRA will appropriate matching funds and in -kind services, if the grant is <br />awarded, and the City of San Marcos, Texas, may consider appropriating matching funds and in- <br />kind services for studies of creeks in its area, to assist with the financing of the Flood Protection <br />Planning Study and any improvements as agreed; <br />4. The City of San Marcos, Texas, will work with GBRA to pursue implementation <br />of viable solutions identified through the proposed planning effort and will pursue and identify <br />potential sources of funding for implementation of viable solutions; and <br />5. The City of San Marcos is currently participating in the National Flood Insurance <br />Program making flood insurance available for all insurable structures in their respective <br />incorporated and unincorporated areas; <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas supports the GBRA's <br />application to the Texas Water Development Board for flood protection planning grant <br />assistance. <br />PART 2. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately from and <br />after its passage. <br />ADOPTED this the 1st day of February, <br />2011 <br />1 <br />
