<br /> <br /> <br />9 . <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2002-_ 21- <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 2.069 OF THE CITY CODE <br />TO REVISE CITY BOARD AND COMMISSION MEETING <br />ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS; AND INCLUDING PROCEDURAL <br />PROVISIONS. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The City Council has previously established meeting attendance policies for City board and <br />commission members in City Code Section 2.069. <br /> <br />2. The City Council wishes to revise the meeting attendance policies to provide flexibility, and to <br />encourage attendance rather than punishing non-attendance. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Section 2.069 of the City Code is amended as follows (underlining indicates added <br />text; overstrike indicates deleted text): <br /> <br />Sec. 2.069. Absence from meetings. <br /> <br />(a) The voluntary absence of a board or commission member from three consecutive regular <br />meetings of the board or commission will result in automatic resignation of the member from the <br />board or commission. <br /> <br />(b) 1'\n absence of a member from a board or commission meeting may be regarded as excused, <br />rather than voluntary, at the discretion of the board or commission or its chair, if it results from <br />illness factor beyond the control of the board or commission member. <br /> <br />(Q e) The voluntary absence of a member of a board or commission that meets quarterly from two <br />regular meetings during a fiscal year of the city the preceding 12 months, whether voluntary or <br />excused, will result in automatic resignation of the member from the board or commission. The <br />voluntary absence of a member of any other board or commission memBer from more than 25% <br />or more of the board or commission's regular meetings during a fiscal year of the city the preceding <br />12 months, whether voluntary or excused, will result in automatic resignation of the member from <br />the board or commission. In determining compliance with this subsection. the attendance of a board <br />or commission member at a special meeting. workshop or committee meeting of a board or <br />commission during a fiscal year of the city will count as an attendance at a regular meeting of the <br />board or commission during the same period. Within this subsection, "meeting" includes <br />vlOrkshops and any other posted meetings of the board or commission. <br /> <br />(c) In this section: <br /> <br />1 <br />
