The City's employee classification schedule requires updating to add classifications for Electric Utility <br />Department employees and for the deputy city manager. <br /> <br />BElT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Section 2.371 of the City Code is amended as follows (underlining indicates added text; <br />OvG15ttike indicates deleted text): <br /> <br />Sec. 2.371. Employee classification schedule Em})loJIlleat tlositions. <br /> <br />(a) All city employment positions, except for fire fighters and police officers subject to civil <br />service regulations, are divided between those that are exempt from payment of overtime (exempt <br />positions) and those that are not exempt from payment of overtime (nonexempt positions). <br /> <br />(b) Exempt positions include: <br /> <br />(1) Positions filled by city council appointment; and <br /> <br />(2) Positions in salary grades 41 through 494-8 and 55 through 60 of the city employee <br />classification schedule. <br /> <br />(c) Nonexempt positions include positions in salary grades 11 through 19 and 21 through 26 of <br />the city employee classification schedule. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, or paragraph of this ordinance is held to be <br />unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the other provisions of this ordinance will <br />continue in force if they can be given effect without the invalid portion. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. All ordinances and resolution or parts of ordinances or resolutions in conflict with <br />this ordinance are repealed. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. This Ordinance will take effect 10 days after the date of its final passage, and the City <br />Secretary will publish notice of its adoption in a newspaper of general circulation in the City. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED on first reading December 6, 1999. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED on second reading December 13, 1999. <br /> <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED January 10, 2000. <br /> <br />&~~~ <br /> <br />Billy G.
